Fourth-year veterinary students get amazing community practice experience thanks to an alumni endowment through Oregon State University Foundation.

Dr. Yamini Chalam, clinical instructor at Oregon State University, is embedded at Oregon Humane Society Community Veterinary Hospital in Portland, Oregon as the Otteman Brant Faculty Fellow in Small Animal Medicine.

She oversees clinical rotations in community practice for students at the Gary R. Carlson, MD, College of Veterinary Medicine.

The rotation expands Oregon State's partnership with OHS as students also complete a clinical rotation in small animal surgery and shelter medicine at the OHS animal shelter under the direction of embedded faculty member Dr. Kirk Miller.

OSU microbiologist and lead lab technician Wendy Black and microbiologist Nelson Osorio explain how their work improves the health of humans and animals alike at beav.es/Yoh .
