Using AI for public good.

Camilla Piano, a dual criminology and social philosophy major, and Shreya Dhital, a dual biomedical sciences and mathematics major, represented Cortland at SUNY’s Advancing AI for Public Good summer research program.

Their work focused on improving social work information systems, planning resilient transportation networks and problem-solving through research.

Two undergraduates earned a $6,000 stipend as part of the summer research program hosted at Binghamton University.

Our Jersey Boy Harry Sperduto! 🎸

Musical theatre alum Harry Sperduto ’25 stars as Tommy DeVito in the Tony award-winning Broadway hit “Jersey Boys,” which began a national tour this week at the Landmark Theatre in nearby Syracuse.

The musical tells the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons from each band member’s perspective, chronicling their rise to fame, the challenges they faced and the legacy of the 1960s rock ‘n’ roll group from New Jersey.

Harry plays the founding member of the Four Seasons. He was born in the Republic of Georgia, grew up in New Jersey and shined on stage at Cortland before moving to New York City.

Twenty-five years later, we remember 🇺🇸

On Sept. 11, 2001, seven Cortland alumni were among the lives lost at the World Trade Center and across the nation.

Flags fly at half-staff on campus to honor their memory along with the sacrifices of first responders, medical professionals and everyday citizens. A special edition of the Dragon Chronicle also has been published to share firsthand accounts.

The university’s annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony takes place at 6 p.m. Friday outside Corey Union in their honor. A permanent plaque in Miller Building also bears their names.

We will always remember the bravery and sacrifice that they represent.

A record-setting summer for research! 📈

Donor-funded Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships supported hands-on original work for 17 students — the most ever in the program’s 20-year history — representing many different majors.

The Undergraduate Research Council awards provide students with a $4,000 stipend, research opportunity and housing for eight weeks of full-time study.

📸 On Sitkalidak Island in Alaska, the Ing’yuq Village archaeological site hosted Madison Houghton, William Kennedy, Matthew Solan, Abby De Leon (Dartmouth College) and Anna Tanzman. All four Cortland students were current or former summer fellowship recipients.

Red Dragons in ITALY! 🔴🐉🇮🇹

Yes, you can study abroad in the most popular destination for U.S. students through our Art and Art History Department.

The Arts of Italy course brought a brand-new opportunity this summer for 20 students representing a variety of majors.

The immersive 10-day trip explored the cities of Florence, Verona and Venice to provide an up-close look at the rich artistic history of central and northern Italy.
