We are proud to share that two of our educators, Lee Beers and Noelle Zamary, presented at the 111th Annual Meeting and Professional Improvement Conference of the National Association of County Agricultural Agents (NACAA).

Lee was awarded the North Central Region Distinguished Service Award from the NACAA in addition to giving a presentation on the topic of Promoting a Culture of AI Literacy at Ohio State University.

Noelle Zamary was a state winner for her creative works in the newsletter category for the Northeast Agri-Culture Newsletter as well as presenting on the topic Same Roots, New Methods: A Hybrid MGV program.

Do you know the quality of your hay?

Ohio State University Extension is again offering reduced cost hay analysis. In recent years making quality first cutting hay has beena challenge forages often not meeting the needs of livestock, thus requiring supplementation. This reduced cost testing is providedby the Extension eBarns program and Small Ruminant Research lab.

Cost: $15 for first sample. $20 for each additional sample

What is provided? Near Infra Red NIR analysis.Dry Matter Content, TDN, Crude Protein, ADF, NDF, Ash, Fat, C, P, K, RFV

Interested in learning more? Call our office at 330-638-6783 or email Lee Beers at [email protected]. Samples must be delivered to the OSU Extension office in Cortland by July 30th to participate.

Need a hay probe? We have one you can borrow or call to schedule a time for us to collect the sample for you.

Cover Crop and Drone Field Night

Attend to learn about cover crop selection, grazing, and drone
application of cover crops and pesticides.

Join OSU Extension on July 22, 2026 from 6PM to 8PM for a field night dedicated to cover crops and drone technology. OSU Extension staff will discuss cover crop species selection and practices that work well for our region. Pete Conkle with Columbiana County SWCD will discuss best practices for grazing cover crops with cattle to maximize nutrition and soil health. The field night will wrap up with a discussion and demonstration (weather permitting) on drone technology for seeding cover crops and pesticide application by On Target Drone Application.

This is a FREE event, but we please request that you call the OSU Extension Trumbull County office at 330-638-6783 to register so we have adequate seating.

Join us for Trumbull County 4-H STEM "Nature Explorers" Day Camp! This event is for youth in grades K-5 and hosted at our local Extension Office. 🍀

Youth will work independently and in groups with a team of volunteers who help them work through STEM related activities, challenges, and crafts.

Cost is $15 per youth participant. Registrations are due Monday August 3rd, and paper registrations are located outside the Extension office door to be filled out. If you prefer we can email you the registration, please send a request to [email protected]
