The biggest night of the making season is almost here! 😱 🏆

The Cortez Makerspace presents Innovation Challenge Day & Awards Night, a full day celebrating the makers, the builders, the dreamers, and the doers who showed up and made something extraordinary this season.

Here’s how the day unfolds:

🎨 10 AM – 8 PM — Showcase of the work, live music, drinks, and a garage sale of business and innovation supplies. Come browse, celebrate, and soak it all in.

🏅 5 PM — Awards Night — Five judges score the category winners and crown one champion per division. We’re talking the $5,000 Open Prize, the Youth Scholarship, and the People’s Choice Award — earned by the season’s applause. 👏

🗺️ Then... — Winning creations are sealed into the treasures and the region-wide hunt begins. Makers choose whether Fundamental Needs uses their project. The hunt is optional — but legendary. 🔐

This is what learning looks like. 🫧✨

One of our young makers getting hands-on with Dry Ice Bubbles, and absolutely nailing it. The focus, the gloves, the fog rolling off the table... she came, she learned, she conquered. 🏆

This is exactly why we do what we do at Cortez Makerspace. Every curious mind deserves a place to explore, experiment, and discover something that makes them light up. 💛

Want your kid to have a moment like this? Keep an eye on our upcoming workshops. We’ve always got something worth showing up for!

Fall Maker Fest started on October 2 with DIY Any Pumpkin, and our Mini Makers didn’t hold back. They made apple-stamped pumpkins, fabric pumpkins, sock pumpkins and glowing pumpkin lanterns. Some even wrote Halloween cards for their moms. 🧡

A big thank you to NirvaNA Sober Bar for the popcorn and sweet treats that kept us crafting all afternoon.

Before we packed up, we made one last project: a mask and cape for Vinci. Meet Super Kitty. 🦸‍♂️🐱

Thanks to everyone who came out and made this such a gourd time. We can’t wait to see those smiles again!

Fall Maker Fest continues all month! See what’s next at fundamentalneeds.net/workshopsandevents

Knot your average Tuesday. 🪢

A few hours, a lot of cotton cord, and the kind of focused quiet that only happens when everyone's hands are busy.

Can't make a scheduled workshop? Good news! Macramé Wall Hangings is now a KitStarter, so you can grab everything you need and make one anytime, on your own schedule. Just show up and start knotting, workshop or not.
