We are brimming with gratitude for all who participated in and made our recent Pueblo Belt Weaving workshop such a tremendous success!
The workshop was led by Zuni artist and educator Chris Lewis, together with Wayne Waquiu, a student in our 2023 weaving workshop.
All 14 of the workshop students were Indigenous, joining from 7 different communities (Zuni, Acoma, Jemez, Santa Clara, Kewa, Ute Mountain Ute, and absentee band of Shawnee). Together we shared many rewarding moments, and heartfelt gratitude was expressed by all.
Participants paid only a small fee for class supplies, while the remaining 98% of costs were covered for the students. A huge thank you to generous Crow Canyon donors for contributing to the Reconnecting People to Place, Heritage, and Identity Fund and making this experience possible for these 14 Indigenous students.
