# Important Mesa Elementary Time Update

**Dear Mesa Elementary Families,**

I want to sincerely apologize for the confusion regarding the school start and dismissal times that were previously shared. I provided incorrect information, and I am very sorry for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused your family.

I want to make sure everyone has the **correct information moving forward**. Please note the following updated and correct Mesa Elementary times:

# # # 🐾 MESA ELEMENTARY TIMES

**🚪 Doors Open:** **7:35 AM**
Students should be dropped off at the **West Side Door** and enter the building through that entrance.

**🔔 Tardy Bell:** **7:55 AM**
Students need to be **in their classroom by 7:55 AM** for attendance. Students who are not in class at that time will need to check in through the office and receive a tardy slip.

**🏠 Dismissal:** **3:50 PM**
Students will be released at **3:50 PM**.

Please remember that **tardies and early checkouts will make students ineligible for Perfect Attendance Awards.**

# # # 🚨 Parent & Visitor Reminder

Parents and visitors **may not enter through the West Side Door**. If you need to enter the building, you must go through the **main office** and bring a **physical photo ID** with you.

Again, I sincerely apologize for providing the wrong times initially. I understand how important it is for families to have accurate information when planning their mornings, afternoons, and transportation.

Dear Mesa Elementary Families,

We are pleased to share that the blessings and ceremonies for Mesa Elementary have been completed with the support and guidance of members of both the Navajo Nation and the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe.

We are deeply grateful to the tribal members who took the time to share their traditions, knowledge, and guidance with our school community. Their participation allowed us to respond to the recent lightning strike in a way that honors the cultural traditions and beliefs of the Native American communities we are fortunate to serve.

Mesa Elementary is committed to creating a school environment where all students and families feel respected, welcomed, and valued. We appreciate the understanding and support of our entire school community as we honored this important cultural tradition.

With the ceremonies now completed, we look forward to welcoming all of our students and families back into the building and beginning the school year together.

Thank you for your partnership and for helping us build a school community grounded in respect, inclusion, and understanding.

Notice to Families
Dear Mesa Elementary Families,
During one of the recent heavy rainstorms, lightning struck a utility pole located outside the front of Mesa Elementary. The strike caused damage to portions of the building's wiring and internet access points. While repairs are underway, we also recognize that this event holds cultural significance for many members of our local Native American communities.
Mesa Elementary values the cultures, beliefs, and traditions of all students and families. Out of respect for the traditions of our local tribal communities, we are coordinating with tribal members to arrange a traditional blessing of the school building.
Because tonight is our scheduled Back-to-School Night, we wanted to make families aware of the situation before entering the building. We understand that some families may prefer to wait until after the blessing has taken place. We are happy to schedule another time to meet with those families following the blessing so that everyone has the opportunity to visit the school when they feel comfortable.
Thank you for your understanding, partnership, and continued support as we respond to this event in a manner that reflects our commitment to respect, inclusion, and the communities we proudly serve.
