Returning to Ladakh. 💛
I’ve been slowly putting together these reflections since returning home from my second trip to Ladakh, and in that time came heartbreaking news of devastating flooding across the Himalayan region. These mountains, glaciers, and rivers aren’t simply beautiful backdrops for those of us fortunate enough to visit them—they are powerful natural forces, inseparable from the lives of the people who call the Himalayas home. I’m holding that with humility and an even deeper reverence for this extraordinary part of the world.
And with that held close, I still want to share some of what Ladakh offered us.
Some of these lessons came through our yoga practice. Others through Buddhist teachings, the landscape, long drives along the Indus, shared meals, unexpected conversations, and the beautiful community that formed along the way.
These are a few I keep returning to.
Stay curious.
Make space for the weather.
Pay attention to what is moving.
Balance effort with ease.
Keep showing up.
Find strength in connection.
Carry the lessons forward.
Perhaps crossing a horizon isn’t an escape from our lives, but an opportunity to return to them a little more awake.
I wrote more about what Ladakh taught me in my latest journal entry, Lessons from Little Tibet.
