With heavy hearts the West Oso family mourns the loss of a beloved educator, mentor, musician, and friend, Mr. David Alvarez. He was a true gentlemen in every sense of the word.
For many years, Mr. Alvarez poured his heart into the West Oso Junior High Band, inspiring generations of students through the power of music. His influence extended far beyond the band hall. Through his dedication, encouragement, and genuine care for his students, as well as his passion for music, he became an important part of the Molina community and touched the lives of countless students, families, and colleagues.
In June, Mr. Alvarez received a well-deserved honor when he was inducted into the West Oso ISD Education Foundation Hall of Fame. It was a beautiful recognition of a career dedicated to students, music, and the community. His legacy will live on in the students he inspired, the music he created, and the memories shared by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
We extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Alvarez’s family, friends, former students, colleagues, and all those who loved him. We are grateful for the lasting mark he left on West Oso and the Bear community.
Rest peacefully, Mr. Alvarez. Your song will continue through the generations of Bears you inspired. Once a Bear, Always a Bear. 🐻
The Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 from 5:00–9:00 p.m. at the Corpus Christi Funeral Home (2409 Baldwin Blvd., Corpus Christi, TX 78405).
For those who are able to attend, we invite you to join in paying respects and honoring Mr. Alvarez’s life, his love of music, and the lasting impact he had on our students, staff, and the West Oso community.
