Del Mar College Child Development/Early Childhood Program

Parents of preschoolers in the Corpus Christi area, this is a great FREE reading camp. Two mornings of fun story extention activities – math, science, and literacy!
Families will receive the featured books and lunch is provided.

CDEC Intern Anisa supported a young child and developing his fine motor skills through Play-Doh play. After modeling, how to use the rolling pin and carefully guiding the child on using the rolling pin, together they made various shapes (and lots of “pizza”) with the Play-Doh. 

CDEC Intern Allie prepared an amazing hands-on activity incorporating both science and math skills. Children had to search for and identify various insects, and make sure they found the corresponding number count. The children kept asking to go again!

CDEC Intern Araceli thoughtfully guides a young child completing a puzzle.
Rather than telling, the child where the piece goes, she points out the important features on the pieces to help the child participate in independent problem-solving.
