Yesterday, the Education Service Center hosted its monthly Special Education Directors’ Meeting, providing an opportunity for regional special education leaders to connect, collaborate, and receive timely information to support their districts.
The meeting included a review of current legal updates, special education compliance requirements, and emerging “hot topics” impacting districts and special education programs. These discussions provided directors with relevant information, clarification, and opportunities to share questions and experiences related to current special education practices and requirements.
We were also pleased to welcome representatives from K-12 Plus , who provided lunch and engaged with participants. Their support contributed to a collaborative and collegial environment while providing directors an opportunity to connect with colleagues and learn about available resources and support.
Additionally, Dr. Johnson provided a presentation on the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA). The session offered valuable information to help special education directors better understand TIA and consider its implications for educators and district practices.
Overall, the monthly meeting served as a valuable professional learning and networking opportunity, allowing special education directors to stay informed, collaborate with colleagues, and strengthen their capacity to support students, staff, and special education programs across their districts.
