Mrs. Powell and her family are excited to put down roots here in her hometown of Corpus Christi! She and her family have lived mostly on the east coast during her husband’s military career. It has been a busy 27 years since she graduated from Mary Carroll HS!
Her passion to encourage, teach and inspire children has led to a career in a variety of settings after graduating from Texas A&M. She has been a camp director, taught in private, public and Montessori schools in four different states, as well as homeschooled her own children. Her favorite moments of teaching are seeing her students light up with confidence and excitement when they realize how much they’ve grown and achieved!
Mrs. Powell and her husband have twin girls who read a new book almost everyday as well as a busy, chatty little boy! They all love to swim, eat s’mores around a campfire and have family movie nights. Everyone is looking forward to beach and salt water adventures here in Corpus!
If you ask Mrs. Powell about this next school year, she’ll tell you, “I am excited to join the fin-tastic Shark family at Creekside Elementary! I look forward to seeing my students glow and grow as we work hard and learn important things together!”

As we wrap up an incredible year of BLOOM- Becoming Ladies of Outstanding Measure, our hearts are so full. 💐✨💕
This special club has been such a beautiful journey of encouraging, uplifting, and empowering our fifth grade girls as they continue growing into confident, kind, and outstanding young ladies. For our end-of-year BLOOM tea party, each girl had the opportunity to invite an inspiring woman in her life, making the evening even more meaningful as we celebrated the important role of mentorship, love, and guidance.
A very special thank you to our amazing sponsors — Mrs. Cerna, Mrs. Cortez, Mrs. Cruz, Ms. DeLeon, and Mrs. Hernandez — for your leadership, encouragement, and dedication throughout this year. Thank you for pouring into these girls and helping make BLOOM such a special experience.
We are also incredibly grateful to Church Unlimited for graciously allowing us to use your beautiful space for this memorable celebration. Thank you to Veterans Memorial High School and the wonderful student volunteers who helped serve food and made the evening run so smoothly.
And a huge heartfelt thank you to our incredible guest speaker, Elena Flores, owner of Sew Bonita, for your heartfelt and inspiring message. Your encouragement to be yourself, dream big, and confidently chase those dreams truly touched our hearts. You were such an inspiration, and we are so grateful for the wisdom and kindness you shared with our girls.
To our BLOOM girls: it has been an honor and privilege to be even a small part of your journey. Watching you grow and bloom this year has been so special. We cannot wait to see the incredible young ladies you continue to become. 💕🌸
