it’s funny, my only pregnancy craving right now is doing this over again but even better.

I know exactly what I’d do different, where I could improve, what I wouldn’t do and tolerate, and even a different design direction.

I’ve had some messages about appointments, please read my health updates to get caught up. So far my symptoms are improving, still some pain but I think the hematoma is improving, I’ll know more on Friday 🤞

I’m being moved to a greater calling, to be there for my family and invest in them the way I have this community we’ve built together.

Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart for all of your support, all of your kind words and wishes, prayers and words of encouragement!

I won’t be gone forever, the capacity in which I serve is just changing. I’m excited to be making progress with my scholarship, and I’m looking forward to organizing some fundraising events after learning more about money invested vs what the students will get from it. So I see fundraising events as a way I can still get to see all of you and make a difference together !

I’ll be working more with my husband as we grow his construction company, grow the company he helps operate, and some design projects ! I have so many ideas and goals I want to bring to fruition. Development to enrich our communities and entrepreneurs, design, philanthropy, restaurants, writing, painting, academics… there’s so much more to me I want to share with the world.

I’m excited for the future, it’s the craziest change I’ve ever made, it’s the boldest thing I’ve ever done, and it’s requiring all of my faith. But the plan was always to stop working and grow my family, and I felt this deeply over the years. It’s just crazy when it happens right at the moment you feel like you’re on fire for your business again. Mentally clearer than ever, confident, focused, direct, and then it’s gone. But maybe not forever, who knows.

You can stay up to date about my journey and piercing related education here and on my website blog. Once I have some projects underway I’ll make a new page for that new life of mine.

Thank you for an incredible almost 20 years ✨

Nicole 💫 another special client turned friend that helped me realize I was put here to do more than just pierce people.

I used to wonder what my purpose was, because I never felt good enough as a piercer. I never felt embraced. I stopped wondering and just focused on what I was building. I focused on what I was best at- the science and pouring into others.

I realized I was put here to fellowship with others. To be their safe space and to serve them, something greater than my own self righteousness and recognition.

It didn’t matter anymore what my happiness and purpose felt like, what mattered is I was there for the people that needed me.

When you’re the first person someone thinks of when they lose a loved one, when they have a life altering accident, when their life completely changes and gets ripped out from under them- you realize your purpose is bigger than yourself and your own dreams.

TRRUST me when I tell you, I love my esthi besties 💉 and I certainly love tattoo shops, of all kinds actually! I love nurses, I love my hair dresser and I sort of love a mall?

But what I don’t love is using piercing as a hustle to make quick money because people think it’s easy.

Sure, buying mystery metal, poor quality metal, plated jewelry, or jewelry made in bulk over seas, repeating information from online and poking a hole with a needle is pretty easy!

But piercing correctly isn’t.

Advancing your education is easier now than ever, so there’s really no excuse to not doing things properly.

There are some amazing piercers doing it correctly at tattoo shops, but it’s hard to find and easy to get tricked. You almost have to know just as much as the piercer to be able to know if it’s safe or not. In my opinion, it’s better that the two be separated.

In our state, there isn’t ANY training required to start piercing. You don’t even need an individual license. The business owner submits their zoning letter, buys the license and anyone can work under it. That’s it! And there usually isn’t any proper training for the person piercing. Why? Because fast money. “Because it’s easy” duh!

And actually, the time you’ve been piercing doesn’t matter all that much either.

How do I know all this? Because I lived it.

Piercing franchises are a gimmick, they usually require 2 months training from someone else also not qualified. They take advantage of a market real piercers have built. They have great marketing and terrible standards, allegedly. And honestly, for a nurse, I think it’s a disrespect to your skill sets and training to be used by a franchise to perform piercings below standard.

Aestheticians and salons, nurses, just… why? Our skill sets are completely different and there’s no excuse for offering the service other than making quick “easy” money, and taking advantage of a popular market. The same goes for a piercer doing aesthetic work, it doesn’t belong together.

You can try everything, but you can’t be great at everything.

I am FIERCELY protective of this culture, this science and this craft.

If you want to know how to judge if a piercer is safe & where you can find piercers I would trust personally now that I’m gone, visit “From My Desk” on my website

Freehand lip piercings 👄 it’s just one of those things I really enjoy doing 💁‍♀️ Read more to learn how and why I do it…

Lips are very vascular, part of why they heal quickly! But that is also why they can swell a lot.

Freehand means we don’t use any forceps or “clamps”. This is to reduce trauma to the tissue that can cause swelling, bleeding, bruising, and longer healing. This counts for all piercings !

Also, when you use a “clamp” of some kind, it squeezes the layers of tissue together, usually unevenly. Then they get pierced through and the clamp is released. So internally the puncture through those layers can be jagged and damaged, leading to more scar tissue and other complications.

For a freehand lip piercing we use our needle to measure, and use bevel theory to execute the angle of the outcome ! It’s super nerdy and I love it 🥰 Bevel theory basically means that the way you hold the needle and the direction you face it will determine the angle of the wound.

This is one of many things that sets apart a hobby piercer to a “real piercer” , or a piercing specialist.

Always seek a specialist for your safety and the best experience possible.

I’m currently out with a mystery flu right now but the schedule should open by this weekend for next week! Trying to rest up so I don’t spend my birthday sick 🥲

Not sure where your next piercing should go? That's exactly what consultation appointments are for.

Here's the thing: what works beautifully on someone else might not work for your anatomy, and what you're picturing might not be the best fit for your ear shape, lifestyle, or healing capacity right now.

During a consultation, we'll look at your anatomy, talk through your goals (are you building toward a full curated setup or just want one meaningful piece?), and I'll be honest about what will work well versus what might give you trouble down the line.

We'll also discuss jewelry options, healing timelines, and aftercare so you know exactly what you're committing to before we ever take the next step.

This is about building something intentional that you'll actually love living with, not just copying a Pinterest board.

We're here when you're ready. Link in bio to book a consultation.
