Chef G took some of her Practicum 1 students to decorate cookies with residents at The Eastman Senior Living here in Longview! They had such a wonderful time and look forward to doing it again soon.

Our projects did great and our quiz bowl team put up a good fight!

PTHS Culinary I catered their first big event, Let's Taco Bout College Night at the Pirate Center. They helped plan the menu, shop for supplies and prepare the meal.

It's at the Maude Cobb Convention Center from 6pm to 8pm.

Brooklyn, Nathanael, and Braden did a fantastic job on this catering!

The Practicum class is dual credit this year!

Their first college level lab showed off their knife skills. 🔪

Our Culinary 1 students started their ServSafe Manager certification course last week!

They learned how to:
🫧Use a commercial dishwasher & 3-compartment sink
🧹Sweep & mop
🙌Wash hands properly
🧼Restock a hand washing station

Our last bistro day was a huge success!

We're almost home from our first SkillsUSA state competition and boy did we learn a lot! I am SO proud of each and every one of these students.

Competition Results:
▫️Eduardo Osuna received a blue ribbon for his Maleficent inspired cake
▫️Isabela Garcia & Elijah Edwards received red ribbons for their Tangled inspired cake
▫️ Paisley Dean & Yadira Villegas received white ribbons for their fairytale books cake

Unfortunately, our quiz bowl team (Ben Bigham, Katelynn Connelly, Isabela Garcia, Alyssia Leary, Carter Martinez, and Brooklyn Stafford) did not place but fought hard.

I love these kids like my own and will cherish the memories made this weekend.
