🌊 Look at that BEAUTIFUL BLUE WATER ! 😎

For everybody messaging me asking about this weekend, what you’re seeing TODAY is a pretty good preview !

🌿 There is some seaweed in the surf, so keep that in mind if you’re surf fishing. Reports farther down Padre Island are mixed. Some folks say it’s pretty bad, while others say it’s not bad at all.

🎣 Otherwise, get ready for blue water, salty air, fishing poles and bare feet ! 🤙

Just a beach drive

All week long beautiful sunrises !

Port Aransas down through Padre Island is looking so dang good this morning you might accidentally call in sick, grab the fishing poles, load the cooler and disappear until Monday.

The water is looking mighty pretty, and the beach is basically yelling, “GET YOUR BUTT DOWN HERE !”

🌊 SEAS:
Around 3 feet today with a light to moderate east breeze. Surf should stay manageable, so we’re not looking at washing-machine conditions out there.

☀️ WEATHER:
Partly sunny, HOT and humid with temperatures climbing around 90–91°F. East winds around 10–15 mph will at least give you a little salty air-conditioning while Mother Nature tries to cook you.

🚙 BEACH DRIVING:
Looking pretty good overall around the maintained Port Aransas and Padre Island beaches. Once you head farther south on PINS, don’t get too brave 4WD is still recommended beyond Mile Marker 5 and soft sand can sneak up and collect another victim for the stuck-truck photo album.

💧 WATER CLARITY:
GOOD TO VERY GOOD. Port Aransas has been running a long stretch of likely clear Gulf water, and today’s lighter seas should help keep that pretty green-blue water hanging around.

Grab the sunscreen, cold drinks, fishing poles and somebody with a tow strap just in case Uncle Larry decides his minivan is a dune buggy. 😂

🎣 FRIDAY LOOKS LIKE AN EXCELLENT DAY TO FISH !

Friday, September 25 is setting up to be one of the better fishing days of the week around the Coastal Bend.

🌕 The moon will be nearly full, which can really fire up feeding activity around the stronger solunar periods.

🔥 BEST BITE
11:28 AM – 1:28 PM

🌙 EVENING MAJOR
11:04 PM – 1:04 AM

🌊 Multiple tide changes should also give us more chances to find moving water throughout the day.

🐟 Redfish, Speckled Trout, Black Drum and Pompano should all be worth targeting around surf guts, jetties, Packery Channel and deeper channel edges.

🎣 Silver spoons, live mullet, croaker, shrimp and FishBites should all be solid choices.

Friday has the moon, the movement and the feeding windows lining up this could be the day to make that cooler heavy.

🌊 LOOK AT THAT WATER ! Port Aransas is showing off today !

🌡️ Gulf water is cooking at 87°F — that’s some salty bathwater right there ! 😂

💨 Nice east breeze rolling in, but the surf is a little rougher than expected, looking closer to 3–4 feet.

🤙 Overall, it’s looking mighty good on the Texas coast. Grab the fishing pole and enjoy it

🌅 Sun comin’ up over Port A town with partly cloudy skies hangin’ around. That 90-degree heat is gonna settle on in, with a salty Gulf breeze blowin’ against your skin.

🏖️ Down Padre Island, the sand is lookin’ fine. Summertime weather is still hangin’ tough, with southeast winds around 10–20 mph and swingin’ more southeast again this afternoon.

🌊 Seas around 3 feet with that Beach Bum breeze keepin’ the palm trees movin’ easy in the coastal heat.

Port Aransas down to Padre Island sand, cold drinks, bare feet, and a fishing pole in hand.

🔥 THIS WEEK’S HOTSPOTS

🎡 Bob Hall Pier Area and South

South of Bob Hall Pier around the 277 beach marker, Padre Pilings and Last Exit remains one of the better surf areas to work. Redfish and Speckled Trout should be best very early in the first and second guts. Silver spoons, live mullet, croaker and live shrimp are your best bets. Whiting and Black Drum can be worked in the first and second guts on fresh shrimp, FishBites and cut crab. A few Pompano remain possible around the second and third guts. Large Sharks remain an option around deeper water, and cleaner water can bring Spanish Mackerel, Kingfish, Jacks and Tarpon closer to the pier.

🌊 Packery Channel & 361 Bridge

Bull Redfish are beginning to group up and move through the passes. Today’s stronger tidal movement should make current seams, channel edges and bait concentrations especially important. Live mullet, croaker, paddletails and one ounce to three ounce silver spoons should all be in the tackle box. Speckled Trout remain best around daylight, especially around grassy potholes and nearby flats. Flounder and Mangrove Snapper are worth working tight against the rocks. Snook remain possible around deeper structure and the Packery ramps.

🟣 Corpus Christi

Corpus Christi Bay and the Upper Laguna Madre continue to favor an early Trout bite around grass lines, potholes and deeper edges. As the sun gets higher, start looking for Redfish around shallow grass, drains and nervous bait. Red Dot and Cos Way remain good places to target Black Drum, Sand Trout and Speckled Trout, especially early or after dark. Clem’s Marina remains worth fishing after dark for Reds and Trout on live shrimp and paddletails. Downtown T heads can produce Black Drum, Sand Trout, Reds and Mangrove Snapper around deeper structure.

🔴 Padre Island National Seashore

The farther south you go, the better your odds of finding Pompano between the second and third guts on fresh shrimp and FishBites. Redfish and Speckled Trout are worth working in the first and second guts very early. Live mullet, croaker and silver spoons remain strong choices. Whiting and Black Drum should continue providing steady action in the first and second guts. Keep moving until you find cleaner water, active bait, cuts through the bars or deeper guts.

⚓ Port Aransas Jetties & San Jose Island

Redfish remain the headline fish around both jetties, especially from the middle sections toward the ends where today’s stronger moving water should carry more bait. Speckled Trout are best early on the surf side. Flounder and Mangrove Snapper should be worked tight to the rocks with live shrimp.
Cleaner Gulf water can bring Spanish Mackerel, Kingfish, Jacks and Tarpon around the ends. San Jose Island surf remains worth working early for Redfish, Trout, Whiting and a few Pompano on live bait, fresh shrimp and FishBites.

🟠 Fish Pass Jetties

Fish Pass is worth fishing early around the rocks, guts and current seams. Redfish, Trout, Flounder, Spanish Mackerel, Jacks and Mangrove Snapper are all possible. Work one ounce silver spoons when the current allows and step up to three ounces when you need extra casting distance. Look for Pompano around the outer guts when the water cleans up.

Moving water should become increasingly important around Packery Channel, Port Aransas jetties, passes, deeper surf guts and drains.
