The TAMU-CC Department of Music and SoundWaves Music Festival are thrilled to welcome guest composer Shuying Li next week for the 2026 SoundWaves Music Festival! 🌊

Shuying is an award-winning composer whose music has been praised as “vivid, dramatic” (San Francisco Chronicle), “enjoyable” (Gramophone), and showcasing “an incredible span of compositional toolbox” (American Record Guide). You can hear her works on Monday, September 28 at 7 pm at the Larry Urban Gallery and Tuesday, September 29 at 7 pm the TAMU-CC Performing Arts Center.

In the meantime, come kick off SoundWaves 2026 with us TONIGHT! Don’t miss our Faculty Spotlight: Contemporary Currents concert at 7 pm in the Performing Arts Center. Free admission!

We have an exciting week of music here at TAMUCC!!

This week kicks off the SoundWaves Festival featuring guest composer Shuying Li! This year's festival will be from September 24 - 29 showcasing music across the city from our incredible faculty, students, and our guest composer!

Tomorrow - Dr. Scott Pool will give a Faculty Bassoon Recital in the H-E-B Performance Hall in the Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m.!

Wednesday - Tune in to KEDT at FM 90.3 to hear a SoundWaves Preview during our Islander Beats at 12:00 p.m.!

Thursday - SoundWaves officially kicks off with our Faculty Concert in the H-E-B Performance Hall in the PAC at 7:00 p.m.! Come and support our wonderful faculty and the beginning of our SoundWaves Festival!

Friday - The SoundWaves Student Concert will be held at BUS (Bar Under the Sun) in downtown Corpus Christi beginning at 6:00 p.m.! (702 N. Chaparral St.) Please follow our SoundWaves Festival social media pages for more updates on next week's events!

Students please remember to sign up for our evening at the BUS (Bar Under the Sun) with Dr. Beare and to sign up for our student-led Crescendo Collective with Quin Davis!

This Saturday we welcome students from across the state for our All-State Workshops with faculty! TMEA All-State Workshop begins at 9:00 a.m. and ATSSB Workshop begins at 12:00 p.m.!

Islanders that want to participate in the open recording sessions in the Performing Art Center please go to room 306 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., no reservation required! First come, first serve to record and work with our amazing student workers.
