⛪️❤️ A historic and joyful day for Incarnate Word Academy.

Our IWA community came together to celebrate the opening and dedication of our new High School Level chapel with a special Mass celebrated by Bishop Mario Avilés.

More than a new space on campus, this chapel is now a sacred home for our students, faculty, and staff to gather for Mass, prayer, adoration, and reflection. It is a place that will become part of the faith journey of generations of IWA students.

The chapel also carries our history forward in a meaningful way. The crucifix, sanctuary candle, and tabernacle from the former convent chapel now have a home in this new sacred space, connecting IWA’s rich Catholic heritage with its future.

This moment would not have been possible without the many people who gave their time, talents, and resources to bring the vision for this chapel to life. We are incredibly grateful to each person who played a part in creating a space that will serve our IWA community for years to come.

What a beautiful new chapter in the story of Incarnate Word Academy. 🙏❤️

🎨 Same assignment, completely different results!

There’s no shortage of creativity in Mrs. Caitlin Dang’s art class! Our High School Level students created mini graffiti fences, choosing their own colors, lettering, designs, and details.

One of the best parts is seeing how Mrs. Dang brings out something different in every student. Even with the same assignment, each student found a way to make their piece completely their own! ❤️🎨

A trip around the world, right from the classroom! 🌎✨

Our Middle Level students recently created culture dolls and presented them to their classmates. Students chose a country they either had a personal connection to or were interested in learning more about, then designed their dolls to represent traditional clothing from that culture.

The presentations were such a fun way to see each culture come to life! One student even performed a traditional dance as part of her presentation. ❤️

We loved seeing the creativity our students brought to this project while learning more about cultures from around the world!

The future is full of possibilities! 🎓✨

Our Middle Level and High School students had the opportunity to start exploring what their futures could look like during our IWA College Fair!

With colleges and universities from across Texas and beyond in attendance, students were able to meet with representatives, ask questions, learn about different programs, and discover schools they may want to call home one day.

We were also excited to welcome students from St. John Paul II High School and other surrounding Catholic schools to join us for the event. Whether college is right around the corner or still a few years away, opportunities like this give students the chance to start thinking about what comes next and all the possibilities ahead! ❤️🎓

Sometimes the best lessons start outside the classroom! 🍃☀️

Our 3rd graders headed outdoors to collect leaves for a hands-on science investigation centered around one question: Why do leaves change colors?

After gathering their leaves, students returned to the classroom and used handheld lenses to examine them up close. They looked for patterns, studied the different parts of a leaf, and used their observations as evidence to better understand the changes they were seeing.

By exploring, asking questions, and making their own observations, our students were able to experience science in a way that goes beyond the textbook. 🍂🔎❤️

Our IWA Elementary and Middle Level students came together for a special Mass honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Hector P. Garcia. ❤️🙏

Dr. Garcia holds a meaningful place in both IWA’s history and the Corpus Christi community, and we were honored to welcome his daughter, Cecilia Garcia-Akers, her husband, Jimmy Akers, and other special guests to join us for this celebration.

During the Mass, Cecilia shared a few words about her father and the legacy he left behind. She also presented IWA with a generous $2,500 gift from the Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Foundation to support tuition assistance for our students.

We are incredibly grateful to the Garcia family and the Foundation for continuing Dr. Garcia’s legacy through their support of our students and helping make an IWA education possible for more families. ❤️

Kicking off a year of exploring what comes next! 🎓❤️

Our High School students in grades 9–12 had the opportunity to hear from Southern Methodist University (SMU) Regional Director of Admission Joe Francisco.

This presentation marks the start of many college visits our students will have throughout the year, giving them opportunities to explore different schools, ask questions, and learn more about their options after graduation.
