Happy International Dot Day!!!

Today at VMCC, we celebrated creativity, courage, and the magic that can begin with just one little dot!

Our children explored dots through art, color, play and their own wonderful imaginations. There was no "right" way to create, just opportunities to experiment, make choices, and proudly say, "I made this!".

In early childhood, art is about so much more than the finished product. It's about giving children the freedom to explore, take risks, express their ideas, and discover all that they are capable of.

We are incredibly proud to share that Vinson Morris Children’s Center has earned a 4-Star Texas Rising Star certification, the highest level of quality recognized by the Texas Rising Star program!

This recognition reflects what we work toward every single day: creating a place where children are known, loved, challenged, nurtured, and given the very best start possible. 💛

A 4-Star rating recognizes high-quality practices in areas that matter deeply to us, strong teacher-child interactions, intentional learning environments, developmentally appropriate experiences, family engagement, and program leadership.

This accomplishment belongs to our entire VMCC family. To our teachers and staff who pour their hearts into this ministry each day, our families who trust us with their most precious gifts, our Board and church family who continually support our mission, and especially our amazing children—thank you.

Grandparents are a beautiful reminder that love grows through generations. Thank you to all of our wonderful grandparents who made it out to breakfast! Your involvement and advocacy for your grand babies is such a blessing!

Today, our playground was filled with some extra special friends as our children brought their favorite teddy bears and stuffed animals along for our very first Teddy Bear Picnic!!

We spread out our picnic blankets and enjoyed hummus, cheese cubes, crackers, tomato and cucumber salad, and orange slices together. And just when we thought our picnic couldn't get any sweeter, Mr. Richard surprised everyone with ice cream!

Days like today are about so much more than a picnic. They're about building friendships, creating traditions, encouraging imaginative play, and making school a place full of joy and belonging.

We pray you all have a safe and amazing labor day weekend and we will see you on Tuesday!

VMCC has so much happening this month! For years, I have wanted to begin a book club within our walls, and this month Storytime Society finally becomes a reality! This is not only for VMCC students. Former, current, and future families are invited to join us, as well as CCFUMC and community families, for a fun read aloud, snack, and a nature bookmark craft. We hope to see you there!!

Nathan tragically lost his mother, Valerie, in a devastating house fire. In a matter of moments, Nathan’s life was forever changed. At only 15 years old, he is now facing the unimaginable heartbreak of losing his mom while trying to navigate everything that comes next.

Nathan is a former VMCC student and any help that you are able to provide to help him as he navigates this new journey would be extremely helpful. Our hearts are with you all.

Two weeks in, and already so much learning is happening. 💛

In early childhood, learning doesn’t always look like worksheets, perfectly finished crafts, or everyone doing the same thing at the same time. Most of the time, it looks like play.

It looks like little hands exploring new textures during sensory experiences. It looks like paint being mixed simply to see what happens. It looks like turning a dramatic play space into a home, a restaurant, or an adventure. It looks like building, pretending, creating, experimenting, talking, and trying again.

These experiences are intentional. As an NAEYC-accredited early childhood program, we believe children learn best through developmentally appropriate, play-based experiences that invite them to make choices, explore ideas, build relationships, and express their own creativity.

We can’t wait to see where their curiosity takes us this year. ✨

You all keep asking, so I am FINALLY listening! VMCC is offering 2 part time Pre K 4 spots. The school day will run from 8:30am-2:30pm and will include all of the same programming and play based curriculum care as the rest of the preschool.
