On Thursday, May 28, West Oso Elementary proudly hosted its 2nd Annual End of the Year Talent Show! Our talented students took the stage and shared their unique gifts with classmates, staff, and family members. From start to finish, the students put on an incredible show and demonstrated creativity, confidence, and hard work. We are Oso proud of each performer for having the courage to step into the spotlight and showcase their talents with our school community.

Summer Hours
Attached are summer hours for the district.
And just like that, Mrs. Davis waved goodbye with her pompoms to her West Oso Elementary students for the last time. We will miss her on our campus and in our district so much! You have made a tremendous impact in the lives of the many students, teachers, and staff members who have crossed your path throughout the years you have been with WOISD. We wish you the best of luck in your new adventure and know that you are always welcome back home! 🐻🖤❤️

5th grade students participated in the PLTW course “Infection Detection.” 🦠
Students were randomly assigned to be medical examiners, regular sick, or infected with the mysterious disease. Medical examiners had to investigate based off a list of symptoms and their observations to determine how sick their patients were👩🏽⚕️👨🏽⚕️
Students were also grouped up to investigate common areas of the classroom to check if there were “germs” (simulated with Glo-germ lotion). They used UV flashlights to uncover the area and had to measure how long or short the infected area was🔦
Lastly, we closed out the course by doing a handwashing investigation to test which was more effective in cleaning our hands: plain water, soap & water, or hand sanitizer! 🧼 🙌🏽

Congratulations to Mrs. Escutia’s 3rd grade class for being the top readers in all of 3rd grade for the entire school year! They celebrated this morning with a pancake breakfast. Thank you to our librarians for making the start of today so special! 📚🐻🤓
