No matter what you are feeling in the moment, you can control how you show up.

Resilience of mind will help you push past the biggest inner hurdle everyone will face at some point - fear.

Fear holds most people back from even setting out towards their goals. Then, once they start down the path, they meet resistance and new levels of fear. The key is to lean against the fear, pushing through, even when feeling uncomfortable.

That’s where the breakthrough occurs.

For most people, fear is debilitating and causes them to turn around quietly before going too far. That’s how average people face their emotions, letting them take over and stop them from following their purpose and life mission.

Have grit and do the hard thing. It’s not going to be comfortable or easy. But as you lean into the feeling, you become more comfortable being in that state. You are able to perform in chaos rather than shrink back.

⚡️Inner grit and mental resilience is developed by doing hard things consistently. It’s as simple as that.

I wanted to be a special operator from a very young age. Before YouTube, the internet and SEAL movies were mainstream- books from the library were my inspiration. I can remember reading stories of SEAL operations in Vietnam and being fascinated by the “men with green faces”. In some way, they were my heroes. I wasn’t interested in the traditional “superheroes” growing up, but these men were. Part of what drew me to them was their ability to perform in incredibly difficult environments. These capable men were unbelievably adaptable.

This ability to adapt did not just happen by accident but came from years of hammering away at the basics, layering new levels of performance on top of the foundation, with a constant evaluation of personal and team performance. It’s a lifestyle of pursuing excellence. And that lifestyle of obsession drew me in.

After following in their footsteps, I have had my own share of opportunities to adapt. I’ve been underway on submarines for months on end, deployed in the desert of the Middle East, operated off the coast of Africa, performed missions in the deep Pacific, and conducted ops under less than ideal conditions. I’ve had to learn quickly and adapt to new environments rapidly.

It’s the quality of adaptability that enable special operators to take what is placed in front of them and quietly outperform the rest when it truly counts, without skipping a beat or struggling through the unknown. In fact, in the unknown is where they thrive. While others around you are reeling from a supposed setback or schedule change, you are already thinking about ways to work through or around the “problem”.

How well are you at adapting to setbacks or change in your own life? Start by hammering the basics. Get your daily schedule in order, train your body, learn how to shoot, practice breathing work, dial in your nutrition, surround yourself with high achievers, master the aquatic environment, cut out distractions, land that job, and build a solid foundation of faith.

You can’t be adaptable if your personal affairs are not in order. Control the controllables. Adapt and overcome. 🔱

Don’t arrive at selection under-prepared for the boats. Land portage will take your soul if you arrive weak. 💀

Train for it:

1. Rucking - fast ruck running in the sand.
2. Farmer carries - heavy fast walks with dumbbells or kettlebells.
3. Run intervals - fast intervals with minimal rest.

Develop your upper body strength. Practice static overhead holds and walks with dumbbells or kettlebells. Build the barbell press and push press - both will be essential for upper body training.

Can barely press 115 lbs overhead? Then we have a lot of work to do. Perform barbell presses overhead. The standard is 75% bodyweight for 3-rep max, minimum. More advanced lifters should build to a strong overhead squat. This movement mimics the overhead squats that will be performed during selection with a boat or log.

Many people quit before or during boat evolutions. Make yourself bulletproof. Show up ready to perform.

Most men are running solo. No team. No mission. No one holding them accountable.

That’s not a discipline problem.
That’s an environment problem.

SEAL operators don’t become elite alone. They’re forged in platoons. Men with a common mission, pushing each other past what any one of them could do on his own. That’s the model behind The Operator Pro Team.

Every week, you get:
∙ Group mentoring sessions built around your goals-accelerated progress, not guesswork.

∙ Leadership development that translates directly to your career, relationships, and purpose.

∙ SEAL-tested physical training. Grinder PT, run programming, sandbag work, and calisthenics.

∙ Real accountability from men who are in it with you.

This isn’t a course. It’s not a Facebook group. It’s a team - built on the same structure that produces the most elite operators in the US military.

I spent years as a SEAL operator and BUD/S instructor. I ran Pool Comp. One of the most mentally savage evolutions in military training.

What I built into this program is everything I learned about forging men under pressure. 🔥

You don’t need more motivation. You need a team and a mission.

This should be your mindset: 👉 “The water is my home.”

Here is how to make this reality. I use progressively difficult aquatic skills in pool training sessions, pushing each team member to push past their limitations and become more confident as they face new challenges.

I took lessons learned from years of real-world operating experience from the Teams, along with tactics taught during BUD/S Second Phase (dive phase) for Navy SEAL trainees, and created a system for developing unshakable water confidence.

After myself and team put our SOF prep trainees through these sessions we can see a marked improvement in their confidence and abilities in the water.

If they can overcome their fear of the water, they can overcome anything. Mental resilience carries over into their careers, relationships, and overall mindset. Their ability to stay calm, adapt, and push through challenges in the water translates directly into how they handle adversity in life.

I train my team members in the pool and lake here in North Carolina, covering these areas:

▪️Combat sidestroke form
▪️Drown-proofing
▪️Subsurface swims
▪️Buddy rescue
▪️Mask clearing & retrieval
▪️Gear ditch & don
▪️Underwater endurance & breath control
▪️Open water navigation
▪️Swim confidence drills
▪️Dirt diving dive procedures
▪️Underwater knot tying
▪️Gear manipulation…And more

If the water makes you nervous, it’s time to change that. The water should become your second home.

05/10/2026

Mastering the combat sidestroke (CSS) requires two things: honing specific techniques and staying consistent at practicing them.

If you are struggling to swim faster than 10:00 for 500 yards, more than likely it’s because of your technique. Let’s fix that.

Here are my top 5 points of performance to learn:👇

1- Reduce drag: Focus on keeping your body as low in the water as possible. Think about keeping your arms, hands, and head in the water. Anything that comes out of the water creates drag. Don’t swim with board shorts or shorts with pockets. Use swim jammers or something similar.

2- Dial in the streamline position: The goal is to glide your way across the pool in as few strokes as possible. 4-6 strokes max to cross a 25m pool. You can glide either on your chest or side- then roll to get your mouth above the surface to take a breath. The streamline glide position should be with both arms in front of you, elbows locked, stack hands, biceps on your ears- tuck your chin to make this position easier. Think about swimming “downriver” think about swimming “downstream”. Smooth is fast.

3- Use the wall to your advantage: Go AS FAR AS POSSIBLE off the wall. Get some depth in the water, do a double arm pull (optional), then come up when your body rises to the surface at the end of your glide - going into your first stroke.

4- Use an active airway: Breathe out underwater before coming up - that way you can exhale when you are up on the surface. Too many people hold on to their breath until the last second, ending up feeling winded and exhausted. Steadily breathe out when your head is under the water, breathe into your belly. This is a game-changer.

5- Incorporate a strong scissor: Use a kick board and practice laps with just your scissor kick. Focus on using your hips and glutes for power. Touch point is your big toes. Then do quick short flutter kicks in between scissor kicks to maintain your forward movement and to keep your feet from dropping. Build that power in the kick!

Your mind and your body are always trying to keep you safe. It’s what they are designed to do. So when cold, wet and sandy conditions come- they start looking for an OUT, a way of escape.

But what if everything you want is on the other side of misery? Will you be strong enough to push through adversity when your entire boat crew or best friend quits?

A never-quit mindset is a given. Everyone says they won’t quit. Yet all of my roommates quit.

It takes more than a strong body and mind to make it through.

Your WHY is the foundation gentlemen.

You have got to want this deep down…more than simply a dream or wish. It’s gotta be in your bones. Part of your belief system. Your past, your inspirations, your muses, your North Star/ your future.

Your WHY will sustain your mindset and give you GRIT to make it through anything.

It’s how my grandfather made it through Japanese concentration camp in WW2 and how Viktor Frankl survived the holocaust while others around him died within a month.

It’s what’s inside you that’s unbreakable.

The toughest men quit without a purpose, without a why. Cold, wet, and sandy gets old really quick. Misery causes even the most committed person to rethink their path. Remember- purpose outlasts pain.

Solidify your WHY for doing what you’re doing. If you can’t think of a good reason why you want to be a special operator other than that it “sounds cool,” then maybe you need to go down a different path. Dig into your heart. Meditate on your mission.

Then once you are ready- train like your future depends upon it. Guided by your inner fire, you will now be able to train harder and endure more adversity. Discipline comes easy because you are doing it for all the right reasons.

Then ultimately, your WHY sustains you as an operator. Don’t think that your WHY is only for selection. That’s just the start. Where it really comes into play is downrange, in free fall or underwater.

Make your WHY the foundation. Then put in the work. Day in - and day out.
