Today at the conference was a full circle moment for me. Pictured with me is the legendary Dr. Carl Cohn who was my very first superintendent when I started as an educator 26 years ago. I will never forget I was an Instructional Assistant in the Long Beach Unified School District and he along with the Assistant Superintendent of Special Education came to visit my classroom. Dr. Cohn walked right up to me and told me that he had heard great things about me and wanted to see me in action. He asked me what my career aspirations were and I told him I wanted to be a teacher. He told me that he would assist me in any way he could. He inspired me to go into leadership and I am so blessed and thankful that I had the opportunity to tell him that today. I just hope that God continues to use me as an inspirational vessel to motivate others to go into this work who really care about the children and providing them with equitable outcomes that will lead to their success!

What a fantastic day!!! I had the honor and pleasure of presenting at the Family and Community Engagement Summit hosted by San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools and the University of Redlands. What I didn’t know was how huge this event was. There were 1,000 parents, students, school district leaders and community members at the event and one of the highlights was our keynote speaker Erin Gruwell who founded the Freedom Writers. I know y’all remember the movie that was out years ago. I’ve been through a lot the last few years and sometimes you need something like this to give you the shot in the arm to really focus on your greatness and what God can do in your life. My presentation was standing room only and so many people wanted my card and want to work with me in the future. It inspired me to start planning my own events like this so I can continue to have impact on our families and our communities! Thank you Lord for giving me the ability to inspire others and for being open to inspiration from others. Also, when I finished my presentation and went back to my car to leave, I got an alert that my credit score jumped up 25 points… everything is just coming up Larry today, LOL…
