The Mountain is buzzing with excitement as we kick off a new school year! Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming our new international students and their families to campus. We’re thrilled to have them join the Storm King community and begin this journey together.

Tomorrow, students will dive into orientation activities, getting to know campus and one another. On Friday, they’re off on a cultural excursion to Washington, DC!

We’re so happy to have them all here and can’t wait to see all the memories, friendships, and learning that's in store. Welcome to Storm King!

Congratulations to John Carruthers, our Visual Arts Chair, on earning Third Prize for his woodcut, Chanticleer Horse, in the Hale Juried Exhibition at the Artists Association of Nantucket Gallery!

Storm King faculty are back on the Mountain and starting the year by exploring how students learn best.

During orientation, teachers joined Glenn Whitman of the Center for Transformative Teaching & Learning for a Science of Learning workshop, followed by an Experiential Education Challenge at Storm King Art Center.

🌎 The flags are going up, which can only mean one thing—another school year is just around the corner!

Each flag represents a country within our student community, and soon, students from across the globe will begin making their way back to the Mountain.

Congratulations to Storm King senior Steven Chen '27, who was invited to speak this summer at the UN Youth Affairs Office event, "One World, One Game, One Goal: Football as a Catalyst for Youth Mental Health and Well-Being."

Held ahead of the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup Final, the event brought together youth leaders, athletes, researchers, policymakers, and organizations from around the world to explore how sports can support young people's mental health and well-being.

Speaking in the ECOSOC Chamber at United Nations Headquarters, Steven shared how athletics have helped him manage stress, build resilience, stay present, and develop a sense of belonging. He also spoke about the important role sports can play in supporting the mental health of young people everywhere.

Steven credits his experiences at Storm King—including athletics, student clubs, and community service—with helping him develop the confidence and perspective to represent youth leaders on the international stage.

Congratulations, Steven, on this outstanding achievement and for representing The Storm King School so well!
