The days seem to fly by! Your awesome first graders are working so hard in school. We are learning so many new vocabulary words, finding many ways to practice adding to 10, reading many books to make growth on their reading levels, writing lots of stories, and becoming great kids of character. Wow! We are working hard!

Brrrr! Recess was a little chilly this morning. Layers are always good with cooler weather coming. Thanks for all you do!

Wow! These first graders are loving the vocabulary words! They are putting them into their daily conversations and hearing them in our classroom stories. They are proud of themselves for expanding their vocabulary! It is so much fun to see their excitement!

The First grade students have been working hard today! They have been learning new vocabulary words, writing stories of what they want to be when they grow up, and working on number bonds. Testing has also been in the picture this week! Keep working hard First Grade!!

The kiddos are out for recess right now. They just finished sharing their own personal writing about things they can do. The activity had many purposes: to practice oral communication skills, learn how to ask questions about the topic and also how to answer questions about the topic, and practice being good listeners. The kiddos were so kind when they commented on each other's work. We heard things like, "I like the details you had," and "You did a nice job explaining how you___." We have such a caring group of first graders!

First Graders rocked this morning! We were practicing the social skill of "Turning to a Partner" and they did remarkable! They were respectful. They listened to each other and took turns. They made great eye contact. This is part of our new reading series, Developmental Studies, where social skills are given as much emphasis as academic skills. You parents have done a marvelous job - such well-mannered kiddos!! Thanks for sharing them with us!!
