Steuben County issues Travel Advisory until Noon on Monday
The Steuben County Office of Emergency Services and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office continue to monitor the winter storm, which is affecting our region. Steadier snow is moving into our area this afternoon and will last until later this evening into the overnight hours. However, the heavy snowfall will continue to create hazardous driving conditions at times. Storm totals of 12”-15” of snow are expected across many areas of Steuben County. In addition, temperatures will remain in the teens making road salt ineffective. This will make driving hazardous throughout the period.
Based upon current forecasts and conditions, the Steuben County Office of Emergency Services & the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office recommends no-unnecessary travel until 12:00 Noon on Monday. This is not a travel ban, but a recommended travel advisory. This travel advisory will allow plow crews time to clear roads and allow better access for the morning commute.
