Teaching Through Connection ❤️🧠

At Corning Children's Center, we use Conscious Discipline to help children develop the social and emotional skills they need to thrive.

When children feel overwhelmed, they may respond with physical aggression (survival state) or verbal aggression (emotional state). As adults, we first learn to regulate ourselves so we can help children do the same. This supports them in becoming more integrated and able to access problem-solving skills (executive state).

When we understand the brain state model, we see the importance of building our homes, schools, and communities on the foundations of safety, connection, and problem-solving.

Every day, we strive to create environments where children feel safe, connected, and ready to learn. 💙
