I made this announcement at our graduation program in the spring but I wanted to make sure that I also made a general announcement of Miss Marybeth’s retirement.
Marybeth and I met when our now 23 year-olds were in middle school! I was in need of another teacher and I sent her a message to see if she might be interested in joining our team. Best decision ever! I can’t really convey what a hole she will be leaving behind. Miss Marybeth is our “big ideas” teacher! She is the creator of this fabulous sign that she has helped the children assemble with non-recyclable plastics. Marybeth is the creativity and energy behind so many of the Mother’s Day, Father's Day and Christmas gifts that families have all received throughout the years.Something we say to the kids a lot is that they can do hard things and Miss Marybeth takes that very seriously. I am definitely one who is up for a challenge but the things Miss Marybeth gets these kids to accomplish is nothing short of amazing. Her patience while she works with the kids is beyond comparison. She is kind and generous and when she sees a child is struggling she works hard to figure out why and how she can help them. Her experience as a mom to three now adult children has equipped her with so much knowledge. She honestly teaches the rest of the teachers as much as she teaches the kids. Marybeth, we are going to miss you so much. Thank you for all you have done for us and all you have taught us. We will be sure to channel our “inner Marybeth" in the years to come as we ask the kids to do hard things. We hope your retirement is full of fun adventures, relaxation, but most importantly, lots of creativity and crafts! You deserve it.
