Cornell Grade School Move to Remote Learning
Cornell Families:
I wanted to congratulate our students, staff, and community for working hard to participate in safe practices so Cornell Grade School could remain open for in-school learning. In-school learning has exceeded my expectations with the presence of the virus.
The governor has moved Illinois back to Phase 3 in the COVID – 19 recovery. Unfortunately, positive cases of COVID 19 are on the rise and affecting our great school. With the virus spreading, this translates into a greater possibility of exposure for our students, staff, and their families.
With the Holidays coming up and the strong possibility of the virus spreading, I have decided to move Cornell Grade School to Remote Learning. Below are the dates.
We will be fully remote:
· Monday and Tuesday November 23rd and 24th
· Celebrate Thanksgiving with our families safely: Nov 25th, Nov 26th, and Nov 27th
· Fully Remote Monday, November 30th through the day on Friday, December 4th
· Return to in person learning on Monday, December 7th
PLEASE BE ADVISED WHILE IT IS OUR ABSOLUTE HOPE TO RETURN TO IN-SCHOOL LEARNING ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 7TH, THERE IS ALWAYS THE POSSIBILITY THAT REMOTE LEARNING WILL HAVE TO BE EXTENDED.
We will work to set up Supply Pickup and Food Pickup. Remote Processes will be presented to each of your students and their families accordingly. Please support the school and teachers by reinforcing with your children:
Remote learning days are regular school days. Students need to be present, participating, and COMPLETING THEIR SCHOOLWORK. If attendance and work are not completed, consequences will be enforced. Please continue to make school participation a priority.
As always, I wish the very best for health for every one of you and your families.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving and take care of yourself and your families.
Sincerely,
Geoffrey Schoonover, Superintendent
