When Pam Orf and Erica Robinson started their Inclusive Play Program, their dream was to create a place where children with developmental delays could receive the individualized support they need. Too often, children who need extra help can’t get the therapies and support they need in a traditional preschool or daycare. They wanted to change that so every child could feel included, capable, and celebrated. And Sonshine is happy to be the home and provide a classroom where this program can thrive.

Today, we are incredibly proud of what their program has become!! Watching our little friends grow in confidence, build friendships and independence, strengthen their communication and motor skills, and reach milestones that once seemed out of reach has been more rewarding than we ever imagined. Their progress reminds us every day why this program matters, and we’re so grateful to the amazing families who trust us with their children.

None of this would have been possible without Learning Connections Unlimited. For 20 years, Pam has dedicated her heart to helping children and families, and her vision made it possible to create this one-of-a-kind program serving families in the Charlotte area—bringing together therapy, education, and inclusion in a way that helps children truly thrive.

🌊 The Learning Connections “Inclusive Play Program” Summer Session at Sonshine is officially underway! ☀️

They welcomed new friends to their class on June 1 & quickly settled into their temporary second-floor classroom while the first-floor space gets a fresh new look.

They continued their ocean theme with lots of sensory fun, water play, exploration, and plenty of smiles! 💦🐠

Mt Zion UMC is hosting its 3rd annual “Book Drive” in partnership with Promising Pages, an organization that collects and distributes books to under-resourced families, schools, and child-serving organizations.

We are asking Sonshine Families to donate new or gently used books to help out! There is a bin by the front office…drop off books through the last day of school May 20th!! Thank you😊

ROAR!!! Dinosaur week was EPIC! Classes watched dinosaurs “hatch” out of eggs, used droppers together dinosaurs out of ice, pretended to be paleontologists, painted dinosaurs, made dinosaur tails and masks, and headpieces…. As you can see it was a fun and busy week.
