GANSEVOORT- John P. Butler, 77, of Peaceful Lane, passed away suddenly Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at Saratoga Hospital.
Born on March 23, 1949 in Corinth, he was the son of the late John and Rosella (Lawrence) Butler.
John graduated from Corinth High School in 1967 and attended Brockport State University for one year but decided his career was with the GE apprentice program and was a machinist until his retirement in 2004.
He married Mary York on July 15, 1972, 54 years on the day that he passed.
As a youngster, he spoke fondly of helping out on the Butler farm, delivering milk with Uncle Bob and stopping at the bakery for a donut at the end of the route.
John enjoyed woodworking and was a member of the Opalescent Hunting Club for many years. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, three wheeling, and playing golf, especially at Cronin’s and their 19th hole.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by four brothers, Darrell, Charles, Neil, and Scott Butler, and one sister, Wendy Millis.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, and rescue dog, Molly; his brothers, Clifford, Adam, and Joel Butler, and his sister, Cindy Allen; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
At John’s request, there will be no calling hours or service.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the ER at Saratoga Hospital for all their kindness and compassionate care.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Densmore Funeral Home, Inc., 7 Sherman Ave., Corinth.
