Last week, Mr. Willie Gates' Global Supply Chain Management students took part in a collaborative robot workshop featuring FANUC robots in our Corinth AiMUP Lab. Led by workforce instructor Mark Thomas, the training introduced students to robotics and its role in modern manufacturing, giving them hands-on experience creating and programming robot operations.

Great opportunity for students to see firsthand how automation and supply chain work hand in hand in today's industry.

From the Classroom to the Classified Workforce ✈️

These students aren't just learning. They've already accepted job offers from Northrop Grumman-Iuka and are completing this training while their security clearances are processed.

Pictured here in our Electrical Systems Integration course, part of NEMCC's new Aerospace Assembly & Fabrication Program, students are getting hands-on with the real skills aerospace manufacturing runs on:

🔧 Building and lacing wiring harnesses
🔌 Routing harnesses through complete assemblies
⚡ Wiring and testing connectors to verify build accuracy
🛠️ Soldering components onto printed circuit boards
📋 Core electrical theory and component identification

This is workforce training doing exactly what it's meant to do: turning classroom instruction into cleared, career-ready talent for one of the region's biggest employers.

From $12 an hour to a career. From looking for work to building a future.

That’s what happens when Northeast, Northrop Grumman Corporation and Accelerate MS come together to invest in people.

Through NEMCC Workforce Training programs, more than 220 people have started building skills for high-demand careers, including pathways to opportunities with Northrop Grumman that can pay $21–$25 an hour.

Northrop Grumman has invested $60,000 and more than $375,000 in tools and equipment to help Northeast build a state-of-the-art training environment. And with a $2.09 million AccelerateMS grant, Northeast is expanding its capabilities even further with a new Advanced Composites Lab.

But the biggest investment isn’t in equipment or buildings.

It’s in people.

A parent finding a better career. A recent graduate discovering a path forward. A worker getting a second chance. A family gaining new financial stability.

This is what workforce development looks like when education and industry work together, and it’s changing lives across Northeast Mississippi.
