If you haven't already, be sure to sign up for the Magnolia Moves Activity Challenge! It's a great way to encourage getting some steps in this Fall!

Registration is now open for our fall session of Magnolia Moves! The challenge will officially start Oct. 12.

Magnolia Moves is an Extension walking and activity program designed to show that physical activity comes in many forms: brisk hiking through the woods, tending your garden, jogging through your neighborhood or dancing to your favorite music.

There is no cost to join this 6-week activity program, you set the pace, and you choose the activities to participate in throughout the six weeks.

Just download the MoveSpring app and it will seamlessly sync with a wide range of wearable devices, including your iPhone, Apple Watch, Apple Health, Android, Google Health Connect, Fitbit, and more. Use organization code MSUEXT at signup.

Harvest season is well underway in Alcorn County. We recently had the opportunity to assist local producer DK Mitchell during the harvest of some really nice corn and soybean yield contest plots.

We look forward to seeing how his yields stack up against other producers in the region.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of our beloved colleague and friend, Mary Linda Moore, early last week. We are deeply grateful for her 25 years of dedicated service to the Mississippi State University Extension Service, and especially for her devoted service to the families of Alcorn County.

As a Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent, Mary Linda touched countless lives through her commitment to helping individuals and families strengthen their homes, finances, health, and overall well-being. Through her knowledge, compassion, and willingness to help others, she made a lasting difference in our community.

We extend our deepest sympathy to her family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside her. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of service to Alcorn County and the Mississippi State University Extension Service will not be forgotten.

If you participated in the Spring Challenge, you don't need to register again—just sign in with your existing username and password on the MoveSpring app. If you’re participating in a different county this fall, be sure to update your profile in the app settings. New participants: MSUEXT
No need to register as a county team this time, if you select Alcorn County, you will automatically be enrolled in our county team. The winning team receives funds to help support their county programming... let's get moving together!
