What a kind thing to say!

One of my precious clients had this to say while we were exchanging emails and making advocacy, EF, and academic support plans for her high school and middle school children for the upcoming school year.

Two of my most requested services are IEP/504/ARD Advocacy & Parent Coaching and Executive Function Coaching.

Working directly with families to help them better understand the special education process, prepare for school meetings, identify meaningful supports, and communicate effectively with their child’s educational team is my goal!

My favorite days consist of providing families clear guidance and teaching students practical tools that lead to greater confidence and independence.

For my EF students, executive function coaching focuses on the skills that often determine whether students can successfully manage what is being asked of them: planning, organization, time management, task initiation, self-control, and cognitive flexibility.

Level Up Plus also provides academic tutoring, transition and life-skills support, support for neurodiverse learners, homeschool/private-school consultation, and professional development workshops for educators and parent groups.

Serving families in Texas & Oklahoma for educational advocacy and supporting Executive Function students nationwide through virtual coaching.

Less Overwhelm. More Independence.

A new school year brings new expectations and sometimes new questions.

As families head into fall, Level Up Plus, Inc. is available as a resource for parents and students who need practical, individualized support navigating school, building independence, and planning for success.

Two of my most requested services are IEP/504/ARD Advocacy & Parent Coaching and Executive Function Coaching.

I work directly with families to help them better understand the special education process, prepare for school meetings, identify meaningful supports, and communicate effectively with their child’s educational team.

For students, Executive Function Coaching focuses on the skills that often determine whether students can successfully manage what is being asked of them: planning, organization, time management, task initiation, prioritization, self-advocacy, self-regulation, and follow-through.

Level Up Plus also provides academic tutoring, transition and life-skills support, support for neurodiverse learners, homeschool/private-school consultation, and professional development workshops for educators and parent groups.

My goal is simple: give families clear guidance and give students practical tools that lead to greater confidence and independence.

Executive Function Priority Power Hour:
"Sort It, Start It, Stick With It"

Before school starts, give your middle school or high school student a quick shot of executive function support with a one-hour virtual group or private session focused on prioritizing, planning, and reducing back-to-school overwhelm.

In this session, students will learn how to use a simple tool/Priority Rubric, to figure out:
• What needs to be done first
• What can wait
• What feels urgent but may not be most important
• How to break down assignments, studying, chores, or school prep
• How to create a realistic first-week plan

This session is a great fit for students who struggle with procrastination, time management, task initiation, forgotten assignments, or feeling overwhelmed.

Students will leave with a simple priority planning tool they can use at home and school.

Virtual-friendly. One hour. Practical. Student-centered.

✨ Celebrating 5 Years of Level Up Plus! ✨

This month marks the beginning of Year 5 of doing work that has been my passion and purpose my entire life!

As a special educator for
36 plus years, advocate, and executive function coach, I have had the privilege of partnering with incredible students, families, service providers, administrators, and educators to help learners gain the skills, confidence, and support they need to thrive.

Along the way, we have been deeply honored to be recognized as Best of Denton in both 2024 and 2025, a reflection of the trust and support of the amazing community we serve.

Most importantly, I give all glory and gratitude to the Lord for His faithfulness, guidance, and provision throughout this journey. What began as a vision placed on my heart has grown into a calling that allows me to serve students and families every day. I am continually reminded that every opportunity, every connection, and every success belongs to Him.

As I reflect on this milestone, here are 5 ways we’ve helped students level up over the past five years:

1. Empowering Parents Through Advocacy
We’ve helped families understand their rights, navigate the IEP and 504 process, and become confident members of their child’s educational team.

2. Securing Meaningful School Supports
From accommodations and modifications to specialized instruction and services, we’ve helped students access the support they need to reach their full potential.

3. Building Executive Function Skills
Through coaching and individualized support, students have learned how to manage time, stay organized, plan ahead, prioritize tasks, and develop independence.

4. Strengthening Academic Confidence
By identifying strengths, addressing challenges, and teaching practical strategies, we’ve helped students experience success both inside and outside the classroom.

5. Creating Lasting Growth Beyond School
Our goal has never been just better grades. We’ve helped students develop self-advocacy, problem solving, resilience, and lifelong learning habits that extend far beyond the classroom.

To every student, parent, educator, and community partner who has trusted us along the way, thank you. Your support, collaboration, and belief in our mission have made this journey possible.

Here’s to Year 5 and continuing to help students access opportunities, build skills, and achieve their goals!

This week, our Summer EF Lab students are learning one of the most important real-life skills: planning that actually works.

Planning is more than writing something down. For many students, planning requires slowing down, understanding the task, breaking it into steps, estimating time, identifying materials, and knowing where to start.

This week, students are practicing strategies such as:

• Reviewing and updating their current calendar
• Using Reverse Planning by starting with the final goal or deadline and working backward
• Breaking large tasks into smaller, more manageable steps
• Estimating how long tasks may take
• Checking materials before starting
• Using reminders, checklists, timers, and first-step plans
• Learning how to check and adjust a plan when something changes

For younger students, this may look like planning for camp, swimming, library trips, chores, or getting ready for an activity.

For middle school students, this may include updating a calendar, planning summer reading, organizing materials, or breaking responsibilities into clear steps.

For high school students, this becomes even more real-life focused: managing deadlines, job applications, summer assignments, driver’s ed tasks, work schedules, and personal responsibilities.

Students are also learning that Executive Function growth is not about “just trying harder.” It is about learning tools that help the brain slow down, organize information, start tasks, follow through, and build independence.

These are the skills that support school success, confidence, self-advocacy, and long-term independence.

Teaching students how to turn overwhelming tasks into clear next steps is a priority because when students understand how to plan, they begin to see that they can manage more than they thought.

One of the most powerful changes we see in students is not just better grades or cleaner binders. It is the moment they begin to understand how they learn, what gets in their way, and how to use tools that help them succeed.

With support, students in our EF support program learn to:
1. Speak up when they are confused
2. Use calming strategies before shutting down
3. Plan ahead for assignments
5. Manage time by making time visible
6. Organize materials so school feels less overwhelming
....and more

The heart of executive function coaching: helping students build the skills they need to better access their education and grow in confidence.

EF Summer Level Up Lab
Limited seating is available for Wednesday and Thursday sessions in June and July.
