🌌 September 2026 is packed with amazing sky events! ✨🔭

Get your calendar ready for a month full of celestial highlights. 🌠 On September 1, the Aurigid Meteor Shower reaches its peak. On September 2, Venus meets Spica, followed by a beautiful Moon–Jupiter conjunction on September 8. 🌙🪐

Then comes the September Equinox on September 22, Neptune at opposition on September 25, and the month ends with the stunning Harvest Moon on September 26. 🌕✨

Some events are best seen with the naked eye, while binoculars or a telescope can reveal even more detail. Find a dark, clear spot, look up, and enjoy September’s cosmic show! 🌌

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction is pleased to continue supporting families through Growing Great Readers, our monthly K–2 literacy resource.

Each calendar includes simple, engaging activities that reinforce classroom learning, encourage daily reading and writing, promote family involvement, and require little to no materials. Students can also track their progress with monthly check-off circles.

September flyers are available in English and Spanish. Please continue sharing this resource with families and encouraging a few minutes of literacy practice each day. Together, we can help students build strong foundational skills and a lifelong love of reading because Greatness Grows Here!
