We are Argo First Baptist Church, located in Argo.

We consist of every different kind of personality so there is a place for everyone in our church. We strive to do what is right but sometimes we all stumble. That is why we need our fellow friends in Christ to be there to pick us up. The devil comes after us hard and we need to be ready to stand and fight. And with Christ guiding our lives, we will be victorious.

Going inside a building and closing the doors is not going to win the battle. It’s a good start. We need to go inside and shut the doors to prepare. We need to get our game plan and then our equipment ready. But getting a game plan and equipment ready won’t be as effective unless we actually put the equipment on. But, just putting on the equipment doesn’t ensure a victory. We actually have to open the doors and go outside of the building and fight in the trenches.

Prayer is a great place to start. In fact, it’s the best place to start. But it can’t stop at a prayer meeting. It must continue outside of the four walls of a building. Prayer without action is like a ship with a full sail but no wind.

Start with prayer, let faith take the first steps, and watch love become a verb!

Serve your neighbor: Feed the hungry, visit the lonely, and lift the heavy burdens of the people right next to you. Everyone is fighting a silent battle. Be kind to one another. Always be a friend. Check in on each other. Stop using hurtful, negative, or bitter speech that tears people down. Choose words that actively strengthen, support, and encourage others.

Our hearts are breaking at Argo First Baptist. We are lifting each family up in prayer along with friends, students, teachers, staff, and the Dora community. Bro. Harold, myself, along with our church, are holding each of you so very close to our hearts during this unimaginable time of great sorrow.

There are no words that can match the depth of your pain right now, but please remember that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and He binds up their wounds. You do not have to carry this heavy burden alone. Our entire church family surrounds you in love, and we are here to support you, listen to you, and walk beside you through every step of the days ahead.

May the God of all comfort wrap His arms around you all and give you strength when yours feels gone.

What’s the climate of your Sunday school classroom?

A Sunday school classroom can be sunny and warm, cloudy with a chance of rain, or scattered thunderstorms.

Sunday School teachers set the emotional and spiritual climate for young people in the church. Your words can build a lifelong foundation of faith or create barriers of shame and doubt.

Use encouraging words that build confidence and highlight their worth in God's eyes.

Try affirmation over condemnation.

CATCH them doing something good and praise them for it.

AFFIRM their character by saying, “I love your helpful heart.” Instead of “thank you for cleaning up.”

VALUE their presence. Tell them you are happy to see them. Let them know they are wanted and loved.

If discipline is necessary, use a calming voice. Never yell or scream at a child. The goal is restoration and instruction, never punishment or embarrassment.

Remember, our job is to grow little disciples for the Kingdom. We are to nurture through example. YOU create the atmosphere of the room. Be kind. Be loving. Be patient. Be gentle. Be joyous!

What is the climate of YOUR classroom…sunny and warm, cloudy with a chance of rain, or scattered thunderstorms with possible isolated tornadoes?
