Corcoran High School (CHS) is proud to recognize our graduating Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) students. These students have dedicated their time and training to preparing for a career centered on serving others during some of life’s most challenging moments. Through a rigorous course of study that extended into the summer, they have developed the knowledge and skills needed to take the National Registry examination and earn certification as Emergency Medical Responders.

Corcoran High School remains committed to preparing every student for success in college, career, and life. We extend our sincere appreciation to our partners at Valley Regional Occupational Program (VROP) for providing students with meaningful, hands-on learning experiences and pathways into essential healthcare and emergency response professions.💙💛

Today our Vet Science students visited Gomez Ranch for a blood draw lab.

They’ll be using the samples they collected for another project in class on Monday. This was a great hands-on learning experience that gave students real-world skills in animal science!

Last week, our Health Occupations students visited UC Davis, where Dr. Vihar Patel—a Corcoran alumni—organized a great pathology lab experience and other activities in honor of ASCP National Lab Week.

Corcoran High Celebrates First-Ever Kings County Admit to UC Merced SJV Prime+ Program
Merced, California – Corcoran High School is celebrating a historic student achievement: senior Rubi Flores Garcia has become the first student from Kings County admitted to UC Merced’s highly selective Prime+ program.

Rubi was accepted into the university’s BS-to-MD pathway, designed to prepare future physicians to serve the San Joaquin Valley. Her accomplishment reflects exceptional academic dedication and the strong support system fostered by the Corcoran High School community.

Representatives from UC Merced will visit campus to recognize Rubi’s achievement and present her with commemorative university items, creating an opportunity for school staff and the community to celebrate this milestone.

SJV PRIME+ is a first-of-its-kind baccalaureate-to-MD pathway in California, developed in partnership between UC Merced, UCSF School of Medicine, and UCSF Fresno. By recruiting high school graduates from the Valley and training them entirely within the region, SJV PRIME+ will prepare a diverse group of future physicians who reflect the communities they serve and understand local health challenges firsthand. By combining world-class medical education with deep regional roots, SJV PRIME+ aims to expand access to care and improve long-term health outcomes for communities across the Valley.

Rain didn’t stop our Business Pathway students today! ☔️
They attended the Power of the Valley Conference in Tulare, where they explored careers and opportunities in the energy industry. Students had the chance to learn about different career paths and hear firsthand about the future of energy.
Proud of these students for taking advantage of opportunities to learn beyond the classroom!

Animal Science teacher Miss Martinez brought hands-on learning to life today with a meat judging lab! Students evaluated cuts for quality, practiced grading, and built real-world skills used in the agriculture industry.
