Sweet friends,

I have been MIA for a while. I stepped out of the classroom to care for my grandbaby and begin the homeschool adventure. I sure have missed sharing fun activities with you.

So I decided I would use this page now for my friends who are homeschooling or just want fun ideas and activities for your own children or grandchildren at home.

My home is full of adventures and daily activities for ages almost 1 up to 15! Our schedule is full of doctor appointments, piano lessons, dance, and much more. All of my children struggle with focus or have some underlying issue that makes learning in a classroom setting of 20 plus difficult to say the least. With a large family and ADHD children thrive in a structured environment but one that moves easily and freely with no time constraints.

My plan is to create things all families can join and share too!

I hope you will follow along as this 50 year old grandmother starts over and finds peace in the little things. ❤️

Yes!

We can easily get caught up in the idea that we constantly have to be teaching children, whether that’s happening formally or informally.

In the process, connection keeps getting pushed to the side. When we overdirect, overcorrect, overexpect, overcriticize, overlecture, and start talking at children instead of with them, we leave less and less space to actually get to know the child in front of us.

We need to get back to having fun with kids. Playing with them. Laughing with them. Being curious about what they’re curious about. Sitting with them. Talking with them. Letting ourselves be present instead of constantly moving on to the next thing.

And this doesn’t mean we let go of structure or our role as leaders. Those are absolutely critical. Children need steady, reliable adults and clear boundaries. But when connection leads, everything changes.

Believe it or not, what matters even more than children liking you is children truly believing that you like them. That you care about them. That you enjoy being with them. When children feel that, they open up more. They take healthy risks. They express their feelings. They engage more deeply because they feel safe with the person in front of us.

That’s what this quote is really pointing to. Learning is shaped by relationships. And when we put connection back where it belongs, learning undoubtedly follows. This should be the utmost priority. 🤍
