As we prepare for an exciting first day of school, please take a moment to review the CPS Dismissal Map below. 🚗🚌 This will help ensure dismissal runs as smoothly and safely as possible for everyone!
✨ First Day Reminders:
📚 School begins at 7:40 AM
🚗 Please be patient during arrival and dismissal as everyone gets back into the routine.
📱 Communicate any transportation changes with the school before dismissal, by noon if possible.
🐾 Follow the dismissal map and directions to help keep traffic moving safely.

Today, our CPS family welcomed hundreds of sweet Lil’ Redhounds through our doors! ❤️🐾🏫
Within moments, our hallways and classrooms were filled with the most beautiful sounds—laughter, excitement, happy chatter, and HUGS… lots and lots of hugs! 🥹❤️ Some were reunited with beloved teachers, some found their long-lost friends, and others began meeting the amazing new teachers who will help make this year so special. 📚✨
Of course, there were plenty of smiles, plenty of pictures, and so many moments that reminded us why CPS is truly The Happiest School on Earth! 📸😊🏰✨
Today was just the beginning of a brand-new adventure, and if Open House was any indication of what’s to come, we are in for something truly MAGICAL! ✨🪄🐾

📚➗ Making Mathematical Thinking Visible at CPS! ➗📚
Today, our CPS math teachers had the opportunity to partner with SESC for an engaging day of professional learning focused on Making Mathematical Thinking Visible!
We continued building on the powerful work we began last year as we dug deeper into the Kentucky Mathematics Innovation Tool (KMIT) and what it means to truly understand and respond to the mathematical thinking of our students. Our teachers explored standards through meaningful, real-world problems, discussed student approaches and thinking, and even had the opportunity to practice using the KMIT tool while analyzing classroom instruction through video.
This work is about so much more than a tool—it’s about seeing the mathematics through our students’ eyes, using their thinking to guide instruction, and creating classrooms where productive struggle, reasoning, discourse, and problem-solving are at the heart of learning.
Today was another important step in our journey, but we know this is just the beginning! As we look toward the year ahead, we are excited to continue growing our collective understanding, strengthening math instruction, and making student thinking more visible in every CPS classroom.

✨ What a way to kick off professional learning at Corbin Primary School! ✨
Today, we launched our professional learning journey with our Mini Impact Conference, and what a day it was! 🎉📚
We kicked things off with the incredible speaker Drew Trimble, who brought energy & inspiration. We continued with FUN games and our staff were all in!
Throughout the day, our staff participated in four impactful sessions designed to strengthen instruction, deepen understanding, and ultimately make an even greater impact on our students:
📚 Educating All – Building inclusive practices that ensure every learner has the opportunity to thrive.
🔥 Student Engagement Showdown – Exploring strategies to ignite curiosity, participation, and active learning.
🔎 Look Into the Lens of MTSS – Strengthening our understanding and implementation of systems that support the whole child.
💪 Ready, Responsive & Resilient – Building the capacity to respond to challenges with purpose, flexibility, and resilience.
Professional learning is at its best when we learn with and from one another, and today was a perfect example of the incredible educators we have at CPS!

The happiest school on earth is excited to welcome, Mr. Braden Sevier! We are so blessed to have him join our school family! Please join us in giving him a warm welcome! 👏

“I am incredibly excited and honored to be joining the Corbin Primary School family!

This year marks my ninth year in Corbin Independent Schools. Throughout my time in the district, I have had the privilege of serving as an instructional monitor, an AmeriCorps literacy tutor, a high school football coach, and most recently as a fourth-grade teacher at Corbin Elementary School.

As a proud Corbin graduate, it is a privilege to continue serving the community I have always called home. I look forward to building lasting relationships with the students and families at Corbin Primary while helping every child grow, succeed, and reach their full potential.

Thank you to Mrs. Proffitt for this incredible opportunity, and to Mrs. Epperson, Mr. Lawson, and Mrs. Warren for making me feel so welcome. I am incredibly grateful to be joining the Corbin Primary family, and I can’t wait to meet my students and their families. Here’s to a wonderful school year!
