One year ago vs today!

We had such a great time with Melissa, her husband Tony, and twin 16-year-old daughters, Ava and Olivia! They stayed with us for 5 days…last time Melissa was here was 17 years ago! We had fun celebrating Melissa’s bday on Sunday and Daniel, Lindy, Samuel and Isabella came over. Thankfully the rain cleared up and Monday was a beautiful day to visit Multnomah Falls and then the Bonneville Dam fish hatchery. Herman the Sturgeon was happy to see Melissa again. Then we went to Portland and walked on Mississippi Ave. The girls especially loved the Paxton Gate store, and then we went to a big anime manga comic book store in downtown Portland and Powell’s Books. Now they are back home and we already miss them and the house is eerily quiet.

Had such a fun time today with my daughter-in-law, Lindy at Painting with a Twist at Bottle & Bottega…Rachel is an excellent instructor, she played perfect 70’s background music, all the other people painting were nice, and the place has a comfy, artsy PDX vibe. We will be back!

Protect God’s true religion
And Kill the meek.
Protect your language…
The only one you can speak.

As unquestioned fact
Your brain and moral compass
Have been hacked.

Protect the dominant viewpoint,
Teach the youth
It only matters who defines the truth.
Common sense and ethics
Are for fools.
Shut up, obey, and follow the f rules.

I used to write songs and poetry and play my guitar a LOT as a teenager. For I was angst-ridden! But then I met my true love, got married, had babies, and have been happy and busy for 40 years. I’m still happy, personally, but I am once again angst-ridden because of the state of our country today. I write and sing to vent, as a catharsis.

What a perfect New Years Eve Day! I LOVE a messy living room because it means fun is happening 😁 Samuel loves playing with his dad‘s and uncle‘s old Spawn figures and he makes awesome sound effects. Izzy colored and painted new artwork for me to display.

I’ve been selling things on Mercari, but I’ve been buying things too… Especially things that make me nostalgic about childhood. I can’t wait to show the Lincoln logs to the grandbabies. And the cooties game is so cool… They look like they should - creepy! Not like a silly cartoon that they changed them into. I also got a cookie jar that I remember from my childhood sadly it got damaged in shipping, but I am working on gluing it together.
