6th Grade Ads-Cornell Elementary Yearbook

All current 6th grade students will be receiving a free 2023-2024 yearbook in September. This is because of a generous donation by Spokane Orthodontics. 6th grade parents have the opportunity to purchase an Ad for their child which will be included in the 2023-2024 yearbook. The cost for an ad is $25 and the link to purchase one is below. Ad sales end on May 9th.

Have you been experiencing sticker shock lately when picking up your groceries at the supermarket? Year-over-year food prices have risen more than 10% in May and continue to rise.

This is the highest food cost increase since 1981.

Overall consumer costs have soared 8.6% over the last year.

These record high costs are fueling food insecurity in our communities, causing more people to seek assistance every day. We need your help now more than ever to continue our work at the Coraopolis Food Pantry, feeding our neighbors and those of surrounding communities.

Bundle Up Tomorrow Morning!
The weather forecast for tomorrow, morning (Friday, January 21) is showing very cold weather. When the wild chill is factored in the temperatures start to reach negative numbers. When considering a 2-hour delay weather conditions are also
evaluated at the 2-hour pick-up time. The weather forecast is not much better at the 9:00 am and 10:00 am pick-up time, so Cornell is planning on starting at normal time tomorrow morning (Friday, January 21). If things change, or if there are
issues with our buses, we'll notify parents as soon as possible. Please plan on having your children dress warm at the bus stop tomorrow morning and plan your arrival at the bus stop appropriately.

Cornell Families-
Early this morning, the Cornell School District received some very sad news. Ms. Edie Shoecraft, one of our elementary secretaries, passed away from health complications. This was sudden news and our Cornell family is heartbroken from Ms. Edie’s passing.

The Cornell School District currently has grief counselors on hand to help any student and staff member who is struggling with this news. We will have grief counselors on hand the remainder of the week as well, and if any family needs to reach out about additional services please contact the high school guidance office or elementary guidance office to discuss. Contact information is below.

Cornell School District is a very close knit group and community, and something like this has a deep impact on a great number of people. Some students only knew Ms. Edie for a short amount of time, others knew her for over a decade, but she truly loved the Cornell School District and the community. She will be missed greatly.

Please take some time this afternoon or evening to check in on your child(ren). They may just need some reassurance, they may just need to talk a little bit, and they may need some additional help. If that is the case please let us know. Thank you for your understanding, and we are thinking of Ms. Edie and her family at this time.
