Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) is an empirically validated treatment for a variety of psychiatric disorders. The evidence for IPT supports its use for a variety of affective disorders, anxiety disorders, and eating disorders, and for a wide range of patients from children and adolescents to the elderly. IPT is recognized as an evidence-based psychotherapy by the American Psychiatric Association, The American Psychological Association, the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence in the UK, and the International Cochrane Collaboration. The IPT Institute has been conducting courses in IPT for over 20 years throughout the US and worldwide. The Institute includes certified therapists, supervisors, and trainers in IPT; membership in the IPT Institute is free and open to anyone who has been trained in IPT.
