FINCH, MALONE, STEVENSON
MALONE EARNS EDUCATOR’S CHOICE
HONORABLE MENTION RECOMMENDATION GIVEN TO
HORN-FRASIER
The Iowa City Education Association (ICEA), representing over 700 teachers in the Iowa City Schools, is proud to announce its endorsement of Jayne Finch, Ruthina Malone, and Dan Stevenson for the Iowa City Community School District's Board of Directors.
In addition to her endorsement, current School Board President Ruthina Malone earned an Educator’s Choice distinction for her long and successful track record of leadership in the district and state-wide advocacy for public schools.
Candidate Jennifer Horn-Frasier received an honorable mention recommendation from ICEA for the November 4 election.
ICEA President Brady Shutt celebrated the impressive pool of school board candidates as well as the community’s support for public education. “We are fortunate to have high-quality, thoughtful, and talented candidates who are willing to serve in this critically important and often under-appreciated role,” remarked Shutt. “Our community has consistently demonstrated its strong commitment to our students and our public schools, and our recommended candidates share that commitment.”
In addition to their commitment to district students, staff, and community, endorsed and honorable mention candidates consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to the collaborative partnership between ICEA, administrative teams, and the school board. Endorsed candidates also demonstrated a strong understanding of district policies and the roles and responsibilities of the school board, in addition to articulating a compelling vision for the continued success and growth of the Iowa City Schools.
ICEA thanks the ICEA School Board Endorsement Committee members for their diligence and considerable time dedicated to this process: Julie Bride, Siri Felker, Suzanne Fraser, Travis Henderson, April Kelly, Courtney Nelson, Brady Shutt, Ben Smith, and Mick Weitz.
