Lately, people have been asking me if I worry that Chat GPT and other AI programs will take away from my business. While that may affect the number of clients I serve, I can honestly say that I've been honored to work with students and families who genuinely care about the essays and want to authentically tell their stories in a professionally personal, well written way.

Hi Everyone! Just another quick update for you:

I recently had the opportunity to work with one of my favorite campers on an essay for an application for private high schools. It was so great reconnecting with him and his family! And it got me thinking...
The hardest part of leaving behind both teaching and the world of camping is that I miss working with students/campers of all ages. After all, I spent 13 years in the classroom in all areas: Elementary (8 years), Middle (3 years) and High School English (1 year). I also spent 36 years working for some of the finest summer camps around: Timber Ridge (7 summers), Tyler Hill (9 summers) and Laurel South (20 years).
For this reason, as well as to expand my business, I have decided to offer tutoring services for all subjects in Elementary and Middle, as well as High School English. Of course the essay writing will still be part of the business.
If you know of anyone looking for a tutor or a writing coach, please feel free to share my information with them. And if you could like/share my post, I would be so appreciative.

Quick update: I've decided to change my pricing policy. Rather then charging by the hour, I am now charging by the essay. This will allow my clients to know, up front, exactly what the cost will be.

Hi Friends,

I wanted to let everyone know that, after 36 consecutive summers working at summer camp, the 2024 summer was officially my last, as I’m focusing all of my attention on my new venture, Essays the Write Way, offering assistance with college, grad school, scholarships and personal essays.

My 20 summers at Laurel South have truly been life changing. There aren’t words to properly express my appreciation for Roger and Dagni Christian and all they have done for me. You’ve created a magical place, and it was my honor to spend 2 decades with you. I’m so appreciative of my colleagues I’ve worked with as a member of the year-round team. Drew, Crimson, Tyler, Bridget, Tiffany and Jack…working with you has been an amazing experience. I know you all will continue to crush it and take care of children better than anyone! And I’d like to thank all of the many campers and families I’ve interacted with. You’ve allowed me to become part of your family, and I am forever grateful. Roger and Dagni have graciously offered to have me come up for a portion of each session to stay connected to our campers and their families and to help out any way I can. I can’t wait to be back in Maine!

I’d also like to thank Andy and Wendy Siegel for my 9 summers at Tyler Hill. You were so supportive of me, and I had a blast serving as your Boys’ Head Counselor. Also, thank you to the Greenberg family for my 7 summers at Timber Ridge/White Mountain. You introduced me to the world of camp, and changed the course of my life, professionally and personally.

It’s going to be strange not packing up my car and driving north for 4 months. And while I’m sad that I’m closing that chapter of my life, I am so excited for my new adventure. I’ve been working with students from all over the country, and it’s been going great!
