First off, the brothers of Sigma Chi at the University of Miami would like to give a huge thank you to all sororities that participated in our annual philanthropy Derby Days and for helping us surpass our $10,000 goal. In addition, we'd like to thank everyone else (alumni, family, friends, etc.) for their help in reaching our fundraising goal. With all of your help and the hard work put in by Derby Days Chairman, Roberto Escobar and Derby Days Assistant Chairman, Tristan Lambert, we were able to have one of the best Derby Days this chapter has ever seen, raise $12,000 and contribute to the fight against cancer!

Secondly, we the brothers of Sigma Chi would like to give a huge shout out to the winners of Derby Days this year, Delta Gamma at the University of Miami! Check out their awesome mural! (Each mural done by each sorority is phenomenal)

We're so proud to say that thanks to the incredible hard work of Senior Alex Lambert and Sophomore Roberto Marrero we were able to raise $18,000 this Derby Days for the Huntsman Cancer Institute. This is the most we have ever raised!

A huge congratulations to the Sisters of Delta Gamma at the University of Miami for coming in 1st place!

Caught up with our newly elected Spring 2016 Rush Chair and Brother of the Week, Tal Dardashti, enjoying his favorite lunch and brushing up on his studies! Tal is a second semester Junior and a triple major in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science and Interpretive Dance, born simultaneously in Tel Aviv, Israel and Los Angeles, California. In his free time he enjoys weightlifting, sorority philanthropy, and cat psychiatry.

“When I transferred here, I was very nervous about the challenges that accompany meeting new people. I still remember the sweatiness of my palms and the way my knees buckled, causing me to fall into and completely shatter the picnic table at the first rush event. I soon settled in, however, when Brother Michael O’Malley asked me if I wanted to see the knife collection in his apartment. At the time, I didn't know that Mike would be my future roommate for the following summer (or if I would make it out of his apartment alive that day! LOL!), but I did know he had a super cool (possibly illegal) knife collection. After meeting Michael, and all of the other amazing brothers of Sigma Chi-Gamma Phi, I knew that this was the place that I could learn, grow, and achieve my full potential as a Student-Philanthropy-Intramural Champion-Athlete.

Although I do not have a knife collection to show future rushes (working on it!), I hope to embrace them with the same warmth, kindness and respect that were shown to me during my rush process. If there’s one thing I hope to convey to my rushes it’s this:

Shoot for the stars, because if you miss, no one will notice you screaming at the sky naked in your backyard at 3am.”

Message for the Ladies: “I just want a good girl that’s only bad with me.”

A huge congratulations to our IM Flag Football team for winning the Greek League Championship for the Fall Semester!

When asked about the win, team captain, leader, and coach Tal Dardashti responded silently by holding out his fist, showing off his 2 championship rings

The brothers of Sigma Chi would like to take this time to remember and honor those lost in the tragedy that was September 11th

"Even the smallest act of service, the simplest act of kindness, is a way to honor those we lost, a way to reclaim that spirit of unity that followed 9/11."

We are forever proud to be American.
