respected business executives and are an
important part of a longstanding university
tradition that dates back to 1946. Although many Citizens Board members are not
graduates of the University of Miami, they
realize and embrace the no

tion that strong
support of higher education is vital to a
community’s continued growth and cultural and economic development. Members are
committed to supporting the university’s
advancement efforts through their
friendraising and fundraising activities. Since its inception, the Citizens Board has raised an estimated $382 million for the
University of Miami and advanced 91
members to UM’s Board of Trustees.
