We couldn’t do it without you. Thank you rotaryclubokkeybiscayne for your steadfast support 🙏 We are honored to receive your non-profit grant again this year. These funds go directly to scholarships for families that need tuition assistance—thank you for investing in the voices of the future!

Special thanks to Bob, our champion 🙌 As the parent of a graduated chorister, you know firsthand the impact that MCC has on young people and their families…

So, were we surprised to see that the Rotary Club’s “3 Tenors” are all former MCC dads?! No, we were not! Once an MCC parent, always an MCC parent.

We hope to see the 3 Tenors and all of our friends at rotaryclubokkeybiscayne at our concerts this season—come sing along with us and experience the joy you’ve brought to our community 🤗

P.S. Congratulations to Peter on his installation as president! We know your vision will carry the club into another fulfilling year of service.

Exciting news! Join us in welcoming our new General Manager (back) to the MCC family 🥰 Meet Courtney Fernandez!

Ms. Fernandez was born and raised in Miami, where her connection to music and education actually began with MCC! She was an MCC chorister in elementary school and continued singing in choirs into adulthood 🎶 She went on to work in science and music education, program management, and organizational operations - always with a focus on building strong programs that support students and educators.

Now, as our General Manager, she is proud to bring her professional experience back to an org that was part of her early musical journey. She knows firsthand the lasting impact choral music can have on young people, and is proud to support the next generation of choristers as they build confidence, community, and a lifelong love of music ❤️

Welcome, Courtney Rae Fernandez! We are SO excited to have you on board.

Alum spotlight 🔍 Meet Ali Onjiko! Ali sang with the MCC from 2006-2012 🥰 14 years later, she reflects: "Looking back, my years with the Miami Children’s Chorus were truly what made me fall in love with music. Being part of MCC gave me such a strong musical foundation while also teaching me discipline, teamwork, and the joy of performing. I now teach music to young children, and I often find myself drawing from the lessons and experiences I had as a chorister" 🎶❤️

Ali remembers, "From singing with the Children’s Chorus at Florida Grand Opera to performing at the Super Bowl (which is still one of my favorite fun facts to share), I was given opportunities that I never could have imagined as a young musician. Those experiences sparked a lifelong love of performing and gave me the confidence to pursue music professionally."

After growing up in Miami, Ali Onjiko moved to Boston to pursue her Master’s degree in Vocal Performance at New England Conservatory, where she studied under the wonderful Carol Haber. Since then, she continued performing professionally, and this August she's singing the role of Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia with bostonsummeropera!

Ali shared that outside of opera, one of the projects closest to her heart is Somerville United FC, the nonprofit soccer club she and her husband founded together. One of the things Ali loves most about it is how much it reminds her of what she experienced at MCC. "The chorus brought together children and families from different backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities, and religions through a shared love of music. At Somerville United, we’re doing something very similar—using soccer as a way to build community, create friendships, and give people a place where they belong. It’s been incredibly meaningful to see those same values of inclusion, teamwork, and connection come to life in a different setting" 🫂

Take it from Ali, who says "I truly believe the Miami Children’s Chorus is such a gift to every family that becomes part of it" -Join this amazing alumni network!

Registration is open now for the 26-27 season. Visit miamichildrenschorus.org to enroll today.

We love you, Ali Onjiko! Once MCC family, always MCC family.
