Proud to see Crystal Academy featured in City Beautiful’s story on disability services and inclusion in Coral Gables.

For more than 17 years, Crystal has worked to make inclusion visible in our city, through education, therapy, community-based learning, advocacy, public safety partnerships and meaningful opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

Our students have learned in Coral Gables, explored Coral Gables, volunteered in Coral Gables and built relationships throughout Coral Gables.

We are grateful for every partnership that has helped move this work forward and proud of what Crystal has come to represent in the community we call home.

Thank you to our friends at and ♾️

When the city becomes part of the classroom. ❤️

From walking to the trolley stop, riding through Coral Gables, exploring Giralda, ordering lunch and paying for their own meals, every step is an opportunity to practice independence, communication and real-life skills.

Community-based learning is about taking what we practice every day and using it in the world around us.

And sometimes, it includes pizza. 🍕❤️

Another great day learning, growing and making a difference in the City Beautiful. ♾️

Life skills are learned by doing. 💙

The learning we practiced all summer carries right into the school year.

Today, our students headed to Publix with individual shopping lists to find the ingredients for their pizza quesadillas. They located their items, made choices including gluten-free and other alternatives for individual dietary needs and practiced paying with cash or a card.

Then it was back to Crystal to prepare their own meal. 🍕🧀

Planning. Shopping. Making choices. Handling money. Preparing a meal. And at the end of the day, communicating with family through the daily emails our students send home.

And it doesn’t stop here. Next week, they’re back at Publix as shopping and meal prep become part of their weekly routine.

Summer or school year, the learning carries on.
Because independence is built one real-life experience at a time. 💙♾️

Summer may be coming to an end, but at Crystal Academy, learning, friendships, therapy, and unforgettable moments never take a break. 💙

Take a look back at some of the memories, milestones, and moments that made this summer so special for our children and families.

📖 Read our End of Summer Newsletter below.

At Crystal, summer meant swimming, friends, outings, FIFA, water days and plenty of fun. But it also meant something very important for our children: continuing to build on the progress they had worked so hard to achieve.

Training becomes meaningful when we have the opportunity to share real stories.

Today, Crystal Academy welcomed members of the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department for CIT training and time with our students.

Even in the summer, Crystal remains a place for learning — for our students, families, first responders, and community partners.

We are grateful for the trust placed in us and for the opportunity to share our experiences so officers can better understand and support students with autism and other developmental differences.

A special thank you to Commissioner Raquel Regalado for her support, to the Crystal families who joined us and shared their stories, and to Jen Kornreich from The Victory Center for being part of the day.

And thank you to every officer who came ready to listen, learn, and connect.

This is how stronger, safer, and more inclusive communities are built.

Some moments remind us why we do what we do. 💙

Years ago, Sammy began his journey at Crystal Academy. This week, his grandmother brought him back for a visit, not for therapy or school, but simply to say hello and thank you.

Seeing Sammy happy, confident, and thriving was a beautiful reminder of why this work matters. We are deeply grateful for the trust his family placed in us during those early years and honored to have been part of the foundation of his journey.

Every child follows a unique path. Our greatest joy is watching them grow in confidence, discover their strengths, and flourish wherever life takes them.

Thank you, Sammy, for coming back. Your visit meant more than you know.

Once part of the Crystal family, always part of the Crystal family. 💙

Some of the most meaningful progress happens in moments that are easy to miss.

A first word.
A new way to communicate.
A steadier step.
A moment of connection.
A skill that brings greater independence.

These moments don’t happen by chance. They are built through consistent, individualized therapy and the unwavering commitment of therapists, families, and community partners.

Today, we are honored to thank Baptist Health Foundation for awarding Crystal Academy its first grant, expanding access to speech-language and occupational therapy for children whose progress depends on continued intervention.

To the Foundation’s Board of Directors and grants committee, thank you for believing in our mission and, most importantly, in the potential of every child.

Together, we are helping children communicate, participate, and thrive.

💙 The Heart of Crystal Academy

Behind every milestone reached by a child is a team that chose to stay.

Today, we proudly celebrate 12 incredible team members who have dedicated 5 to 13 years of service to Crystal Academy. Their years represent far more than longevity. They reflect compassion, resilience, expertise, and an unwavering commitment to the children and families we serve.

For the past 17 years, Crystal Academy has been built on relationships, trust, and a shared belief that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, communicate, grow, and thrive.

As we look toward our next chapter, we are reminded that while places may evolve, our mission and the people who bring it to life every day remain constant.

To our extraordinary team, thank you for choosing this mission, for believing in our students, and for making Crystal Academy a place families are proud to call home.

Your dedication has shaped countless lives, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

💙 Thank you for being the heart of Crystal Academy.
