AGC Student Chapter at University of Miami

MEMBER BOARD: Meet Andy Cabral (.cabral), our president.

Andy has a Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering from PUCMM, the Dominican Republic, is an Engineer In Training in Florida, and currently pursuing a Masters's in Construction Management at UM.

He has worked as a field engineer and structural design engineer in Florida. Andy is fascinated by the process by which drawings become real.

As the president of the AGC student chapter at UM, Andy wants to provide a platform for the students, so they will be able to hear about experts' experiences, learn about the many opportunities that exist, and network with leaders. The goal is to prepare the students to thrive in the construction industry as future leaders.

MEET OUR BOARD: Meet Wladimir Borges .alejandro.borges, our Vice President.

Wladimir has a bachelor's degree in Architecture and more than 10 years working as a designer, project coordinator, superintendent, and project manager. Over the years he has gain a multidisciplinary experience in the field of construction, developing a career with a wide range of knowledge in projects coordination, and management that currently led him to start his Master of Construction Management at the University of Miami. His Working experience in 4 different countries has helped shape his organization and communications skills collaborating close with amazing professionals from different parts of the world, understanding the challenges we face in this changing economy and how is molding our views as professionals in construction, Wladimir continues to grow and learn trough these changes adapting new technologies and methods to be as productive and innovated as possible.

MEET OUR BOARD: Meet Daniela Campoverde , our secretary.

Daniela has a Bachelors degree in Architecture from Universidad San Francisco de Quito. Part of her studies were carried out at the University of Évora in Portugal.

She is currently pursuing a Masters in Construction Management at University of Miami. She has 5 years of experience as an architect in both design and construction management in design build companies.

Daniela chose construction management to polish her knowledge and management skills, and also get experience in the US industry.

MEET OUT MEMBERS MONDAY: Meet Kholoud Abusamaan , originally from Palestine.

Kholoud had a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Effat University, Saudi Arabia, PMP certified and currently pursuing a Masters in Construction Management at UM.

She has almost 5 years of experience as an architect in both design and construction that helped improved her management skills. Kholoud chose construction management to emphasize her construction site "experience" and her enthusiasm towards it, as the driven and young leader she is.

Yesterday, one of our members and student got to be a part of Top Off Ceremony at Pura Vida Hialeah during his last day of site professional practicum. What a great way to end such a good experience!

As Safety Week is coming to an end, we had the amazing opportunity to visit one of Current Builders Job Sites at Platform 3750 where we met with Deborah Hampton, Risk and Safety Director and member of the , to learn more about how they keep their sites safe. How many safety measures can you spot?
