We are honored to recognize Cristian Veloso ‘20, a rising senior at Gulliver Prep and the founder of , a nonprofit organization driven by a powerful mission: to educate, raise awareness, and foster a deeper understanding of epilepsy.
This past spring, SeizeSense partnered with the National Epilepsy Foundation and AMC Theaters to feature its seizure safety PSA in theaters across the country.
Through SeizeSense, Cristian is leading a national effort to expand seizure safety education, reduce stigma, and build safer, more informed communities for people with epilepsy. He says, “Using my lived experience with epilepsy to make a direct impact in my community and beyond brings me much joy, and I’m proud to be part of this mission to improve the lives of others.”
We are immensely proud of you and the important work you are doing, Cristian! 👏

$39,000 raised. One incredible impact. 💙
Back in January, the St. Thomas community came together for our annual Alumni 5K & Fun Run, which directly supports Breakthrough Miami and its mission to provide underserved students with pathways to academic success.
Yesterday, we were honored to present the generosity of our entire community to members of the Breakthrough Miami team: Nicole Kaufman Glasgow, Zakiya Green, and Renia Rosales.
We were also grateful for the opportunity to recognize this year’s Alumni 5K & Fun Run Chair, Megan Viñas ‘19, and alumni parents Evans Crews and Kim Viñas for their continued dedication to this event. Your leadership truly made a difference and guided us to another successful year supporting this important cause!
Thank you to every runner, sponsor, volunteer, donor, and supporter who helped make this meaningful contribution possible. Together, we are helping open doors for future generations of learners and leaders.

Our second graders at St. Thomas wrote heartfelt letters to veterans in our community, thanking them for their service.
Today, we had an amazing moment—Kirby Battle, Class of 2004, visited to personally thank the student who wrote to her. Living in California, Captain Battle is currently serving in the United States Marine Corps, and her presence made the day unforgettable.
We are so proud of her dedication, leadership, and remarkable accomplishments.
Thank you, Captain Battle, for your service to our country. You are a true hero!

Please join us in extending our enthusiastic congratulations to Dr. Nicole Del Oso ‘06, who celebrates her doctoral graduation today! Dr. Del Oso now holds a Ph.D. from FIU in Teaching and Learning: Language, Literacy, Literature, and Culture. Her research studying the intersection of independent elementary education and a phrase called “shadow education,” or tutoring, directly relates to the work she does today at St. Thomas as our school’s lead third grade teacher.
Her impressive research has been submitted to the American Educational Research Association and will be presented at their national conference in April, alongside other researchers in the field of education, at a roundtable focused on how policy, data, and tools shape student’s educational opportunities.
Congratulations, Dr. Del Oso! 👏👏👏

What a joy it was to welcome so many of our alumni parents back to St. Thomas! Your presence at our recent Alumni Parent Reception made the evening truly special as we reconnected, reminisced, and remembered why St. Thomas continues to be a second home for our alumni community.
Thank you to our event Co-Chairs, Mrs. Mariela Botero, Parent Alumni ‘22 and ‘24, and Mrs. Olga M. Garrido, Parent Alumni ‘24, whose dedication and enthusiasm brought this beautiful evening to life. And, we are thrilled to officially recognize all St. Thomas alumni parents as members of the Alumni Parent Roster following the event’s inaugural pinning ceremony!
Alumni parents, thank you for joining us and for always staying connected to St. Thomas 💙
