J & C Woodcrafts
One mans firewood is another mans treasure. Our work consists of Lathe turnings, small and large from a variety of wood native to Texas.
The vast majority of wood harvested is that brought down by natural occurrences; hurricanes, high winds, floods, aged and rotten, etc.

This is the layout of all the rings needed to make this particular turning. Each ring is made up of 12 individual segments, cut to the precise angle and length. This of course is after the log is sawn into planks, planed down to the correct thickness, then sawn into the correct width strips.

This clock was hand made from the base of a Cedar tree that was harvested after Christmas 2010. Hand waxed and buffed to a shine this is the first of many to come. It is 14.5 inches at the widest point, 15.5 inches at the tallest point.
Segmented turnings from raw trees have turned out to be slightly more difficult than I had originally thought...also found out that you cannot trust the miter gauges on power tools. A good set of thickness calipers, a miter gauge, and converting my table saw into a disc sander has greatly helped tho.

Jeremy's first wood works he ever did were created in Iraq while on a 15 month tour on a lathe brought to Iraq by one of his friends as a way to pass the time they spent there. Jeremy was one of his best students!
Some things have been brought to our attention and we'll do our best to correct them. Sizes on the different objects will be posted when available, and unfortunately most of the projects shown on here are no longer on hand. If you like a certain object that's not available I can recreate it to the best of my abilities.
