There are times when the Word hits the bullseye. This day is one of those. What follows in vs’s 12-13 ties some thoughts together: “Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.” Romans 12:13-14 ESV

This is life changing truth. For those who’ve received Christ as Savior it’s so peace-giving. For those who have not, it’s either nonsense or potentially frightening. What it remains to be is existential truth.

This verse was in one of my devotionals today. It struck me as fitting as we watched Hurricane Milton and pray for friends, family, and even strangers in the path of this monster storm.
Yet, there are others not in the path of Milton, but another storm going on in life. Even the smoothest of life's journeys are still a bit jagged.
Let's be praying for those in Milton's path, and those facing a different kind of storm in their lives. And while there are varying degrees in the turmoil of the storms, none of them are minor to our Father in Heaven.
We have an ever-attentive Father, who loves to hear from his children🙏.

“I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
Ephesians 4:1-3 ESV
The Apostle Paul understood these words he wrote for us, by Holy Spirit’s guidance. He lived them out.

I grow more and more convinced that confusion and even fear and frustration are a symptom of my lack of understanding God more intimately. Because as I know Him better i also know myself better and thereby have more contentment in life. This is also part of the path to seeing more clearly our Ephesians 2:10 “good works” God has prepared for you and me to live out (or to “walk in”).
