The Wild Robot sparked something powerful recently at Creek Kids. After reading about Roz discovering what was causing the “poison tide,” we created our own river and ocean system outside. The children watched clean water turn murky when a “factory” dumped pretend chemicals into the stream — and saw how the tide carried pollution onto the land.
We talked about how Ferry Creek connects to the slough and eventually the ocean, then searched our yard for small pieces of trash. When we added them to our stream, the impact was immediate.
Big learning moment: even one small piece of trash matters. And even one small act — picking it up — makes a difference. 💚🌎

We need help to get our Creek Kids moving!
We’re a small, family-run school in Coos County, and we purchased a van (with partial grant funding) to transport kids and offer educational field trips. Despite an inspection before purchase, the engine has failed and must be fully replaced. The seller is unwilling to help, and the cost is overwhelming for our small program.
A generous family is donating the labor—we just need to raise money for the engine replacement.
If you can donate or share, it would mean everything to our students. Every dollar helps keep this dream alive.
Thank you for supporting local kids and our small school!

At Creek Kids, all-day creek days have become a beloved and deeply valued tradition. While much of the country is wrapped in a deep freeze, we spent the entire day outdoors, soaking up nearly 60-degree weather. From morning to afternoon, the creek was our classroom, playground, and gathering place—full of movement, laughter, and connect

🌟 REALLY EXCITING NEWS! 🌟
We are beyond thrilled to share that Creek Kids was the lucky recipient of a grant from VELA to help us purchase a school van! 🎉🚐
VELA is a national nonprofit education fund that supports and invests in everyday entrepreneurs who are building innovative, non-traditional learning models for families and students. We are incredibly grateful to be supported by an organization that believes in nature-based, community-centered education like ours 💚
This van will help us transport children to our program and expand their learning through hands-on educational field trips out in our community and natural spaces 🌲🚌
👉 How you help:
We are currently in need of 6 car seats to safely transport our students. If you know of anyone who may be willing to donate a car seat (or help in any way), please share this post with them!
We’ve created an Amazon Wishlist with the specific car seats we are hoping to obtain:

Our forest elves have been very busy this December ✨
All month long they’ve been spreading holiday cheer and excitement far and wide! Each day, a mischievous forest elf visits to borrow our supplies and leaves behind fun crafts and science projects for us to discover.
The magic, curiosity, and joy they bring make December extra special at Creek Kids 🤎🌲❄️
It was a blustery day at Creek Kids 🌬️
So instead of heading into the forest, we cozied up and built something extra special — a life-size gingerbread house!
Painted, built, and imagined together, this sweet creation kept little hands busy and hearts happy all day long. Sometimes the best adventures happen when plans change ❤️

Our Creek Kids worked so hard to create their very own Friendsgiving feast! They happily helped make everything but the turkey, including green bean casserole, rolls, homemade butter noodles, pie, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and mashed potatoes.
When it was finally time to eat, they gobbled it all up while sharing what they were thankful for. It was such a sweet moment to hear their little voices reflect on gratitude and togetherness. 🧡

Today I’m thrilled to share our newest addition to Creek Kids — our very own Little Library! 📚
✨ A few fun facts about early reading:
-Reading together builds language and vocabulary skills.
-It strengthens attention, listening, and memory.
-Shared stories nurture imagination and creativity.
-Most importantly, reading with a caring adult fosters connection and a lifelong love of learning.
Want to help our library grow?
We’d love donations of gently used or “unloved” books your child may have grown tired of. Every book helps fill our shelves and gives another child something new to discover!
We also have an Amazon wishlist with lots of books we'd love to add to our collection (along with other things we'd love). Check it out here: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2OTGAHM50HGOF?ref_=wl_share
Creating a space that celebrates books has been a dream of mine for a while, and I’m so excited to see it come to life. I hope our Little Library grows right alongside our Creek Kids and becomes a wonderful resource for both children and families.
❤️Megan

Jane Goodall 🍃💙
Deeply saddened to wake up to the sad news of the passing of Jane Goodall.
A true inspiration and light in the world 🌎 her dedication to the natural world, and advocacy for chimpanzees has inspired me endlessly.
A beautiful soul, the world would be a better place if we all thought a little more like her.
Sending love to her family, colleagues and the conservation community 🐒
